ASSIGNMENT #3
RATING
Roadside Features:
● Road longevity depends
on proper drainage. To
regulate rainwater runoff,
this entails the
construction of culverts,
stormwater drainage
systems, and possibly
retention ponds.
Depending on the design
requirements, concrete or
other materials may be
used to build sidewalks
and medians. To
safeguard cars and
pedestrians, safety
elements like guardrails
and crash barriers are put
in place along the route.
Traffic management and
safety depend heavily on
road markings and
signage. These consist of
road reflectors, traffic
signs, and lane markers.
Roadside streetlights are
frequently put in to
increase visibility for
drivers at night.
Landscaping and Beautification
and utilities
● The road design includes
landscaping components
like trees, plants, and
decorative
embellishments. In order
to prevent issues with the
alignment of the road,
utility lines (such as
water, sewer, and
electrical) were moved or
changed during road
construction.
Local Regulations
● For projects involving the
building of roads, DPWH
publishes specifications
and guidelines that must
be followed both during
the planning and building
stages. Local laws include
rules for controlling
traffic during
construction, such as lane
closures, detours, and
safety precautions to
safeguard both employees
and other road users. To
relocate or modify utility
lines that might clash with
the construction of the
road, regulations may call
for consultation with
utility providers.
JUSTIFICATION
A vital connection between Makati and Taguig, two significant metropolitan areas in
Metro Manila, is made possible by the Carlos P. Garcia's Road. By reducing travel times and
congestion on other roads, this improved connectivity makes it easier for local people and
workers to commute. In light of the fact that C-5 offers travelers an alternate route, it helps some
of the traffic congestion that Metro Manila endures. It more effectively distributes traffic and
eases the burden on the existing roads. Furthermore, Taguig and Makati are both important
economic hubs in the Philippines. Therefore, the building of C-5 makes it easier to transport
people and commodities to and from these locations, promoting trade, business, and economic
growth. The larger road system linking Metro Manila to other areas of Luzon includes C-5. By
fostering trade and business outside of the nearby metropolitan centers, this road contributes to
the development of the surrounding area. Along its path, the road gives access to a number of
residential areas, enhancing inhabitants' quality of life by making it simpler for them to get to
schools, hospitals, and other crucial services. Last but not least, the building and upkeep of C-5
help the Philippines establish contemporary infrastructure, such as better roads, drainage
systems, and security features.
THEREFORE
Major cities, provinces, and regions are connected by national roads, which makes it
easier to move people and commodities. By making it simpler for companies to deliver goods to
markets and customers, this connectivity promotes economic growth and trade. One of these
national roads is Carlos P. Garcia's Road from Makati to Taguig, which helps with transportation,
economic activity support, regional development, urban planning, and infrastructure building,
among other essential tasks. Hence, it is a crucial component of the Philippines' transportation
infrastructure due to all of these factors.
