Pronoun
• A pronoun is a word used in place of a noun and is referred to as a
substitute for a noun.
• It is used in the exact sense of the noun, that is the same number, gender
and person as the noun for which it is used.
• The antecedent of the pronoun refers to the noun substituted by the
pronoun.

Personal Pronouns
• Personal pronouns are used for three persons, first, second and third.
• The first person denotes the person/ people speaking as, I, we.
• The second person denotes the person/ people spoken to as, You.
• The third person denotes the person/ people spoken about as, He, she, it,
or they.

Singular Plural

I am walking along the track We are walking along the track.

You are a good person. You are good people.

He is attending the party. They are attending the party.

Possessive Pronoun
• The possessive pronoun refers to the pronoun which shows the relation of
a person with a thing, place or person.

Pronoun Sentence

My My aunt is a doctor.

Relative Pronoun
• The pronouns which refer to a noun as a relative start a new clause are
called relative pronouns.

Demonstrative Pronoun
• A pronoun that is used to point to something specific within a sentence is
called a demonstrative pronoun.
• These pronouns can indicate items in space.
• They can be either singular or plural.

This is a cat. These are cats.

This is a piano. These are pianos.

That is an antique. Those are antiques.

Indefinite Pronoun
• These are pronouns that refer to people or things without exactly referring
to what/ who they are.
