Chapter 1: Foundation of Management and Organizations (Nymul
Hasan Nuhas-2021103630)
Introduction: The main objective of organizational management is to ensure the sustainable
development of the structure. Thus the most flexible resilient and progressive structure of
modern management theory is the two types of governing bodies such as bureaucratic and
organic. In order to manage any type of organization, that organization has to follow other steps
or organizations.
Every organization employs all the workers from the highest level to the lowest level. The work
of each level is not the same. It is possible to determine the profit or loss of an organization
through proper organization and selection of the right staff. Therefore, before and after the
management of every organization, it is necessary to build efficient management based
organizations so that the organization can move towards rapid improvement. There are many
large organizations in Bangladesh who have been working with organizations from different
countries for a long time. All of these for-profit organizations work together with Bangladesh to
build the right management-oriented organizations that lead to improvements. One of them is
WHC (BD) Limited, a German mother organization which jointly deals with Bangladesh in all
text related products and business. In 2011, the company in Dhaka was renamed Wilhelm G.
Clasen (Bangladesh) Ltd., and conducted trade with raw jute, jute yarns and jute products on a
global scale.

Foundation of management: Management foundations adopt a functional structure with

additional management functions such as planning and decision making and specialization in
leadership control and management.
The basis of decision making. Management decision-making through which managers analyze
options and respond to opportunities and threats by making decisions about goals and activities.
At the most basic level the director is a discipline consisting of a set of five common activities:
planning, planning, leadership and control. These five functions are a part of practice and
theories about how to be a successful director. WGC Company has been working with
Bangladesh Jute Products for a long time. They mainly serve the people of the country by
dividing their product services into different levels and to maintain the quality of their products
they control and organize all the internal services of their organization. The quality of the
organization has been increasing for a long time.

Manager: The key contributor to any management-based organization is a manager. Every

organization is divided into different classes from the lowest level to the highest level. The
organization is divided into different types of managers. Each organization is divided into
different categories of managers from lower level to higher level. That organization's top level
managers today perform all levels of work through the commands of the various managers in the
job.

An official director of a foundation or an individual or an official of a foundation performs the

same powers and responsibilities as a director or trustee. A foundation detector is the chief
executive of the organization. On a large scale the four-member position could be the director of

2
development and other fields, with the director at the top of Anderson holding the title of
executive director. Throughout the day, the men take care of all the subordinates from the
middle to the lowest level.

An individual as a government and a private foundation usually does not conduct its own process
of giving grants to other donor organizations. Private foundations are organizations that
typically ask for operating expenses funds or bills for specific programs.
Like all other organizations, WGC (BD) organization managers are divided into different levels
so that they can easily develop their organization and provide services to customers. The levels at
which they are divided into their organization managers are:
1. Fast Line Manager
2. Middle Manager
3. Top Manager

*Fast Light Manager basically refers to the lower echelons of the company who work directly in
the organization field and produce the products needed by the customers. This fast line manager
basically takes the minus from the middle manager and performs all the lower level tasks.
*Middle managers basically receive deductions from the highest level man, they can directly
deal with what should be done by directly contacting the top level managers, in which case the
organization will be developed, and they carry out their contract matters through the lower level
people. The middle managers of any organization are very important because they perform tasks
at the lower or all levels by taking orders directly from the top.

*The manager who plays the most important role from the beginning to the end of any
organization is the top manager. The importance of the top manager of each organization is a
lot. They basically think of all the external and internal aspects of the organization and they
think that if the organization is taken in any way, the organization can be improved or profitable,
moreover, they order the managers in different places of the organization. So there is a lot of
importance in the top manager of each organization

The WGC (BD) organization manages the managers in a way that is based on the management of
their organization. Their organization is basically made up of top managers and the top
managers have a contract with the middle manager about everything in the organization and

3
through the middle manager the organization manages all the activities of the lower level top
managers organization.

Management of power in WGC (BD): Management is a process of developing, maintaining

and managing the distribution of organizations to achieve organizational goals. Each
organization should form an organizational goal of management. By achieving the right
organization goals, it is possible to develop the organization through the employees of that
organization and meet the needs of the customers. Each organization is formed an accurate
organization of proper and bold maintenance and resource allocation process of management.
Proper organization can prove that the organization is improving and deteriorating. WGC
Company has been working from the very beginning to achieve the organizational goals of
proper management of their organization. The four main functional aspects of the work process
are planning organization leadership and control.

*Every manager of any organization brings together the staff of the organization from the
beginning to the end of the organization to deal with various external and internal problems of
the organization and all the processes so that the customers can easily get the products of their
organization are carried out by a skilled manager. The manager of an organization can involve
himself in a variety of activities. WBC Company has been working successfully in Bangladesh
since 2011. The company is the key to development. The company is a skilled manager. From
the beginning to the end, the board of directors of their organization manages all the formal and
informal activities so that the consumers can easily accept the products of their organization. The
following are some of the steps that WGCD (BD) Company has taken to manage their
organization.

 Planning: Goals are the most important step in managing each organization. It is
possible to move that organization forward quickly by setting the right goals. The
company WGC (BD) develops a variety of plans, including the establishment of goal
setting strategies and activities.
 Organizing: In order to run any organization, that organization has to organize various
developmental programs. It is possible to achieve the development of every organization
by organizing all the steps to select the right and skilled workers. In Bangladesh, WGC
Company is currently managing their organization through proper organization.
 Leading: Providing proper leadership to every organization is an important issue. By
providing proper leadership, it is possible for all the lower level employees of that
organization to work easily and it is possible to know the various faults of those lower
level employees. Therefore, in order to achieve the goals of the organization, the leading
aspect should be kept in mind. With proper leadership, the organization can easily
integrate with all classes of people and solve all the problems of the organization to move
the organization towards improvement.
 Controlling: The most important thing about any organization is that the organization
can be controlled through a skilled manager. The WBC organization is basically run by
skilled executive managers so that they control their organization through their skills and
through proper skills their organization has developed rapidly and is being managed by
the people of the country. So every organization should form skilled manpower. It is

4
possible to achieve the overall development of the organization through efficient
services.

Roles of Skilled Manager of the organization

Social role: A skilled manager of each organization is aware of the different types of programs in
that organization. He manages his organization in such a way that he can deal with all the
internal and external problems of the organization and the organization moves towards rapid
development. All the programs are possible through a skilled manager. A skilled manager is the
key to any organization's progress. The quality of the organization has been increasing for a long
time. WGC Company has been working with Bangladesh Jute Products for a long time. They
mainly serve the people of the country by dividing their product services into different levels and
to maintain the quality of their products they control and organize all the internal services of their
organization. The quality of the organization has been increasing for a long time.

Informative role: A skilled manager of each organization takes on a variety of informative roles
in how to manage the organization. An efficient manager manages everything that benefits the
organization and both by managing the organization through various data analysis. For example
an organization manager takes all the informational programs that his organization will produce
to a product that the customer will like both the quality and demand of the product and by selling
that product their organization will develop and they will be able to make good profit. WGC
Company has been managing their organization for a long time by collecting various information
from their organization skilled workers. As a result, the demand of their organization is
increasing day by day.

Decisional role: The most important thing for any organization is to make the right decision to
manage that organization. The right decision is made by the top-level managers of that
organization. By making the right decision, the profit and loss of that organization can be easily
determined. For example, an organization will make a product according to the needs of the
customer but if they make the product as per their desire then the quality or demand of their
product will not increase so they have to produce the product according to the demand of the
customer or make the right decision. The executive character of each organization is the
organization managers and the WGC organization has been following the executive character for
a long time.

Some important skills to manage the organization

Technical skills: In order to manage each organization properly, the employees of that
organization need to acquire the most important technical skills. As a result, all the employees of

5
the organization will get all the ideas on how to easily produce the products of the organization
and how to operate the machine of the organization so that the organization can be developed
easily. Organization employees as well as organization managers need to acquire skilled
technical skills.

Human skills: Managers of every organization must have skilled human skills. Human skills are
the weakness of the employees of the organization or the promotion of the employees of the
organization is done by a manager so he can manage the organization by giving various
opportunities to all the employees of the organization through his human skills. As a result, the
organization can easily improve and the products of the organization can reach the customer
easily. The WGC organization adheres to their organization's mental skills in that way.

Conceptual skills: The most important thing for managers to manage every organization is the
skills they hold. Conceptual skills are how much information a manager has when he goes to run
an organization and how much ability he has to hold that he can manage the employees of that
organization. The main reason why WGC organization managers are divided into different
levels is that they collaborate with the employees of their organization through different types of
past skills.

Summary: WGC Company has been working with Bangladesh Jute Products for a long time.
They mainly serve the people of the country by dividing their product services into different
levels and to maintain the quality of their products they control and organize all the internal
services of their organization. The quality of the organization has been increasing for a long

Chapter 8: Foundations of planning (Md. Shantanur Rahman Orin-
2112335630)

Planning:
Planning means choosing the right option from a set of alternatives. It is the process of selecting
the best way or ways for doing something. It is one of the major tasks of a company. Every
company performs this task on a daily basis to conduct their business activities effectively.
Companies need to make decisions and set goals to follow. After that, a company makes plans to
achieve that goal or goals. They make minor plans to achieve the main plan. All these activities
are done through planning. Planning can lay an impact on the future as well as the success or
failure of a company. It bears a lot of importance and can weather make or break a company.
Proper planning can lead a company to success in a short period of time where unprofessional
planning can create a crisis situation on a company. So, a company should make the best plans
considering all the elements of the environment following the best approaches and structures. A
company should select the best planning approach as all the approaches are not suitable for all
companies. It varies from companies to companies depending on various objectives such as
company size, type of company, type of employee etc. There are many types of plans including
short term, long term, formal and informal. On the other hand, there are many approaches or
strategies such as the Traditional approach, the Means-Ends approach and the MBO or
Management by Objective approach and a company should choose the best approach that suits it.

Long term plans through the lifetime of the company:

Wilhelm G Clasen is a company involved in manufacturing raw jute and jute related products. It
is wholesale company in Bangladesh which is a subsidiary company of WGC which is an old
German company that has been working from 1919. So, it has a long history of business
activities which is full decision making. They had to make plans and function according. As a
result, they are one of the leading companies.
 After the 1st world war, inflation destroyed the German economy which affected a lot of
companies. But, the relevantly young company handled itself properly thorough perfect
planning which prove their excellent planning from the very beginning.

 During 1920-1930, the extended their product line and included abaca, soft hemp, flax and
sisal which was also another example of their long-term planning as its effects lasted for a
long period. Extending the product line was essential for expand the business.

 However, the company wasn’t absolutely faultless as it also showed some bad decision
making and planning. In between 1930 to 1940 the Germany faced am import ban which
affected the German economy to a huge extend. It also hampered the daily activities of
several companies and Wilhelm G was also one of them. Its business activities were greatly
affected as it couldn’t import raw materials. Though it was almost an unavoidable situation, it
is considered that the company could have avoided the situation if it had taken decisions
properly considering the future perspectives and made plans accordingly which it of course
didn’t.

7
 When the Second World War broke out in between 1940 -1950, it became very difficult to
manage business activities properly. Companies all across Europe were trying desperately to
keep their head above water. At that critical time, Wilhelm G was not able to produce
products so they continued their business with substitute products. It was a very good idea
and a cleaver planning as well as it helped the company to continue its activities for a longer
period.

 From 1950 to 1960, the world saw an increase in interest of customers towards sisal fiber
carpets. At that time Austria, Belgium and Germany satisfied the demands of the customers
with their huge production and companies like Wilhelm G made the best use of the
opportunity. The planning of increase of productivity was what enables the company to cope
up with all the competitors.

 In 1960-1970, the company decided to expand their business through including natural fibers
such as coconuts, ramie, kapok, raw linters. This diversification was the result of one of the
best planning that the company ever made since the business was getting tougher for
liberalization of imports and the growing competitions coming from the low-income
countries. So the company had to diversify their product lines which is considered as one of
the best long term plans the company had ever made.

 In 1970-1980, the company did something which changed its ways of doing things and
brought the company way ahead then the rival companies. Due to the hard competition given
by the low-income Asian countries, the European countries were unable to cope up. At that
point, many European countries almost gave up for not being able to produce products in a
low price. They started to import jute and jute yarns from these Asian countries instead of
producing themselves. What Wilhelm G did was, they started to import jute and jute yarns
from Asia to Europe and they were among the first countries to do so. They made the best
use of the opportunity which is considered as one of their best plans. They made plans for
importing jute from Bangladesh and India and kenaf yarns from Thailand. During 1980-1990
the company’s main focus was the Chinese market.

 In 2000-2010, the demand for fibers for composite materials were increasing. Wilhelm G
understood the opportunity and introduce “Gerban fibre ltd” which is a joint venture
company in Bangladesh working up to this date. The company was established in 2005.
Wilhelm G understood the rising demands and made plans accordingly.

 In 2008, the company took their business activities with Bangladesh further by introducing
the “Wilhelm G Clasen service ltd” in Dhaka as a subsidiary company of the parent company
in Hamburg. It was a huge success as it enabled the company to use the opportunities of
operating in a low-income country. At the same time, the company got chances to take
advantages of the bilateral trade agreements between Bangladesh and several other Asian
countries.

8
Purposes of planning:
 Provides direction.
 Reduces uncertainty.
 Minimizes waste and redundancy.

Planning Approaches /Goal setting approaches:

The approaches of planning are the approaches that are used to make plans accurately. It is
basically, the approaches that helps a company to make plans. These approaches vary from
organization to organization. All plans are not suitable for all companies. There are many
decision-making or goal setting approaches. However, three are most widely used. These are the
“Traditional Approach”, “Means-ends chain” and “MBO (Management by Objectives)”.

Traditional
Approach

Decision
making
approach
Means-
Ends
s MBO
(Management
Chain By Objective)

1. Traditional Approach: Traditional approach is an approach where, the higher managers of

an organization make the decision according to their wish, without consulting anyone. In
this process, the other level of management is often neglected. The higher-level managers
such as the directors, the CEOs make the decision. It is a very old method and was very
popular in the past. Organizations used to use it a lot. But managers and employees don’t
like the process. They felt less motivated as a result, the productivity of decreases
gradually. This process is not used at the modern organizations now-a-days.

2. Means - Ends chain method: Means - Ends chain method is a goal setting method where
the goals are connected with one another and the goals must be achieved one by one. This
method can only be used by organizations that have goals connected to each other.
Example- Construction.

9
3. MBO (Management by Objectives): MBO is a goal setting approach where, the higher
management makes goals in consultation with everyone. In this process, all the members
get the opportunity to take part in the decision-making process. The employees get
motivated and the goals are always clear. Most of the modern organizations use this
process now-a -days. It is considered as the best goal setting approach among the three.

Wilhelm G Clasen also had to use these approaches in order to make the best and effective
decision. As it’s an old company founded in the 1919, it used the traditional approach just
like all other companies around it. But the decisions that were made using this approach was
not efficient enough and as time passed the company also changed its goal setting method
and started using the MBO process which enabled the company to make the best plans and
set the most logical goals.

Environment Scanning:
Wilhelm G took long term plans throughout the course of their business. They tried to take
advantages of all the opportunities that they saw in front of them. Another concept that they put
importance on was the “Environment Scanning”. They have always tried to gather information
about their competitors and the business environment and tried to make plans based on the
situation. It is the process of scanning the occasions, patterns, trends of the internal and external
environment of an organization. The elements of an environment sourcing can be
advertisements, promotion materials, newspapers, press releases, internet information, industry
studies and even buying the competitors product. First a company analyzes the internal elements
such as the relationships between employees and managers, managers and supervisors, company
and suppliers ect. The external elements include market share, customers, government etc. A
company tries to identify the shortcomings of its competitors. The disadvantages of someone
might be advantage to someone else.
When it was hard to conduct business in Europe due war situation, other companies had
problems just keep their head above water. Wilhelm G Clasen, at that time conducted business
with substitutes. Again, when European companies were not able to compete with low-income
Asian countries, WGC started importing products form Asian countries at first which indicates
how they always tries to gather information from the problems faced by their competitors and
tried to avoid or make the best use of it by taking plans accordingly.

The characteristics of Planning:

When we are talking about planning, we should maintain one very important topic. That is the
characteristics of a proper, effective and efficient plan. Not all plan generally includes all the
characteristics that makes it a proper plan. These characteristics include-
 Measurable (in numbers)
 Written or documented.
 Time Frame.
 Challenging yet Achievable.

10
 Communicating with all necessary parties or members.
 Clear plans.
 Simple plans.
 Should be practicable.
WGC a lot of plans though out its history. All were not perfect. Most of their plans were written
and had a specific timeframe since all the major plans were long term plans. Their plans include
challenging goals and targets as most of their early plans were taken while Europe were in
between constant war. They also made most of their plans in consultation with the important
members and groups. However, all of their plans were not clear or simple nor practicable.

Commitment Concept: In planning, commitment concept refers to any kind of planning

related mistakes. While making a plan, the managers must keep a lot of things in mind. They
should make plans that are suitable for their company. All plans are not good for all companies.
Because every company does not have similar kind of structure or financial ability. Moreover,
the type of business they are doing, the business environment ect also are considered while
making a plan. So, various companies make various types of plans to support their companies. If
the managers do not consider all these elements while planning, they might make mistakes in
their planning. Which might create a bad situation for that company. These kinds of mistakes
decrease the efficiency of a company as well. The basic kinds of mistakes that a company makes
while making a plan are-

 Wrong information about supply demand

 Wrong information about human resources
 Overestimating the ability of the employees
 Planning Fallacy
 Not considering the past experience
 Narrow focus
 Neglecting the competitors
 Wrong information about the environment
Wilhelm G Clasen made plans throughout their lifetime but all were not faultless. They also did
some miscalculations in their planning, therefor they faced some troubles in their early time. The
main mistake that they made during the war time in Europe was they didn’t considered the
environment and didn’t made the best use of the past experience. As a result, they faced some
problems. The company was introduced after the WW1. After starting their business, within a
short time, they faced WW2. During the war time, their business activities not greatly restricted.
If they had made the best use of the environment knowledge then they would have been able to
do better then what they did. During the WW1, other German companies also faced similar kinds
of situations. They should have collected information about how those companies performed
their business during that time and what kind of mistakes did those companies made in order to
avoid the same kind of scenarios. Except these, the company didn’t make any further major
mistakes throughout their life.

11
Summary: Throughout its lifetime, Wilhelm G Clasen made a lot of decisions and planning to
run their company. As a result, they are one of the leading firms in the world. How they survived
during the critical times of war and up to this date running their company proves their efficiency
and experience. However, they also made some minor mistakes which created some negative
effects on their business. For example, most of their plans were long term. A company should
make multiple short-term plans to execute the long-term plan, which was absent in their case.
However, in order to expand their business further, they should focus on specific regions as
buyers of different regions have different tastes. They should also diversify their product line as
we know that every big company has a diversified product line. They can also enter into new
product markets to expand their business. Except these, other factors such as customer
satisfaction, producing products cheaper than competitors, participating in CRS activities will
also create a good image of the company which will attract more customers. So, they should also
keep these ideas in mind while making further plans. They should also make continent or sub-
continent based plans to expand business in specific areas. This way they would be able to focus
on customers of different categories.

Chapter 5: Social Responsibility and managerial ethics-Only CSR
part (Fatema Akter Muna-2011545630)
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR)
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is an organization’s commitment to responsibly to the
social, environmental, and economic impacts of its management with public expectations where
it is part of an organization's approach to corporate governance which is related to every part of
the business - health and safety, manufacturing, operations, human resources supply chain, and
much more. The starting point we have taken to develop Wilhelm G. Clasen’s approach is that
CSR covers the company's impact on society, or interaction with it, in three distinct areas. These
are the organization's own activities, relationships with the company's business partners through
the value chain, and voluntary or philanthropic contributions to communities. We believe that
CSR should be seen as a core business activity. Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) at
Wilhelm G. Clasen includes extensive interaction with society. This means managing a wide
range of relationships each day with employees, customers, shareholders, suppliers,
governments, local communities, and many more in the wider community. Our commitment to
high standards of corporate conduct is an integral part of our operating tradition.

Sonali Bag alternative of Plastic:

Wilhelm G. Clasen Company is very much interested in Sonali bag and it is going to produce
Sonali Bag worldwide. Sonali Bag or Golden Bag or Jute Polymer or Eco Poly Bag is an
alternative to cellulose-based biodegradable bio plastic which is a plastic bag, especially
polyethylene bag, which was made by Mubarak Ahmed Khan in Bangladesh.
The cellulose used in gold bags is
extracted from jute, which is the main
crop of plants around the world. He
spoke of a belligerent roller coaster in the
field of natural disasters such as
alternatives for polyethylene. Mubarak
Ahmad Khan, a spokesman for the
Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission,
said in a statement that a number of
NFC-compliant members had been
arrested in connection with the incident.
Following this, in general, in 2018,
Bangladesh Jute Mills Corporation
(BJMC) started its business in the field of
Sonali Bag using NFC technology based
on Jute and made by Mubarak Ahmed
Khan. The Prime Minister of Bangladesh,
Sheikh Hussein, has been asked to
produce the "Sonali Bag", which is
considered to be "Golden Fiber".
Wilhelm G. Clasen Company as a
multinational company will promote this
eco-friendly alternative of plastic bags
worldwide. This material has the
opportunity to spread all over the world
by Wilhelm G. Clasen.

17
We are working with raw jute also as all diversified jute products like yarn, rope, cloth, and far
more. The term "jute" refers to various species of bust fibers of the Indian corpus, which belong
to the London family. Pulses length or fiber length approximately 1.50 to 3 m. The external
appearance resembles a huge weed. After the crop is followed, the jute fibers are fried for 20
days, then padded by hand, washed in running water, and then dried. Jute fibers are completely
biodegradable and contain silk and golden flocks; hence jute is often called "golden fiber". These
can be distinguished by their high tear resistance and elasticity. A distinction is made between
white and Tossa jute where Tossa jute is slightly hard and yellowish-reddish in color due to its
strong yellowing-red color. Lignification jute is mostly cultivated in the Gangetic Delta where
there are favorable conditions for growth due to annual floods and can be practically cultivated
without any fertilizer and plant protection.

Summary:
The company recognizes its commitment to fulfilling its social and social responsibilities. Since
the establishment of the company, the trust has been established and its implementation has been
seen as a collective responsibility for the needs of the poor, especially for those who are close to
them. For example: the commitment of the company to realize that the commitment of the
international community is necessary to be partially part of the shape of the collective body
which forms the basis of the established philosophy of politics.
Jute plays an important game in social sciences, economics and biology in Bangladesh. The
specialty of this natural fiber is the common denominator between them. With natural nature for
analysis, it is the source of water and water. The study of natural fiber games, with the exception
of primary lactation, does not produce compounds from alcohol and fermentation. One of the
most important reasons for this is that the fatwa is more about basic needs. The social
responsibility of the companies on the basis of results and operational results is proportional to
the position of managers and individuals from trust. We are the best martyrs for the martyrs and
Sufism the martyrs of death.
The aim is to encourage employees to learn different skills by implementing disciplined
programs. In special cases, the demand is related to the requirements of the personnel, but there
is no connection with respect. In addition to the specialized units, we do not participate in full
partnerships in social, social and biological policy.
Wilhelm G. Clasen takes care of the Sonali bag which might be the alternative of plastic bag.
Our company is very much concern about fulfilling the responsibility towards Environment,
society, shareholders, government, customer, Investors, Suppliers, competitors, Saving water,

Chapter 16: Communication (Faizan Mohammed Rahman-
2021356630)
Communication:
The industry of Jute is one of the oldest industries of our country. It is the leading industry in
Bangladesh in terms of manufacturing, exports, and providing surplus jobs to locals has a
significant impact on Bangladesh's economy. Utah's primary crop continues to remain the
farming sector's main crop. Now I'll discuss the jute Company's communication framework.
Communication is a way to present your thoughts and opinions and listen to others. As Paul J.
Meyer said, "personal communication is the key to personal and professional success." The
importance of effective communication has been emphasized many times. Internationally
renowned teachers and spiritual leaders often stress their importance. Communication helps to
express thoughts-ideas and feelings so that the employees, managers and other staffs can make
awareness to fulfil the business goals and achievements by avoiding the issues. Also, they can
more focus on development, educating the masses and progress. So I think Jute Company should
all the interviews focus on assessing the candidate's communication skills. People who voice
their opinions have a clearer idea. On the other hand, someone who does not understand the facts
is more likely to get confused by saying the same thing. As a result, communication skills are a
strong foundation for measuring intelligence and comprehension of thought.
Wilhelm G. Clasen aspires to capitalize of the low-income nation's position to boost the global
competitiveness of the WGC group of businesses. At the same time, the organization intends to
take advantage of the opportunities of bilateral trade agreements between Bangladesh and many
Asian countries. ("WILHELM G. CLASEN Bangladesh Ltd. | History", 2008) This is the main
message that the company aims to signal to its mass audience through its official website online.
The company has very little information on its official website so that makes this information
about the mission of the company very significant. It is clear that Wilhelm G. Clasen wants this
information to be widely known by everyone, which includes their staff, stalk holders,
competitors and even their consumers. In this scenario, the company has its official website and
the internet to make this information widely available.

Significance of Communication at Wilhelm G. Clasen

The importance of communication in Wilhelm G. Clasen is summarized below:
1. It encourages encouragement by informing and reiterating the job at hand, the manner in
which the task is being done, and how to improve their success if it is inadequate.
2. During the decision-making process, communication facilitates the collection of information for
members of the organization, assisting in the selection and assessment of possible courses of
action.
3. Communication is often critical in improving people's attitudes; for example, a well-
informed individual would have a more beneficial outlook than an uneducated person.
Organizational magazines, journals, meetings, and many other means of oral and written
correspondence mould employee attitudes.
4. When it comes to socializing, communication is very helpful. Communication is
necessary for the survival of the company and its values as well as for the employees that
work in the company.

19
5. Method management is also supported by communication. It helps to regulate the
behavior of organizational participants in a number of ways. Organizational members
must follow different layers of leadership as well as similar ideals and rules.

Functions of Communication
Communication plays a vital role in WGC. Clear communication allows the company to
consistently operate from Germany to foreign countries.
Inside a Wilhelm G. Clasen, communication plays four main functions. They are as follows:
1. Control – German organizations like maintaining hierarchy and any information from
the employee is first directly communicated to their immediate boss.
2. Motivation - Communication increases morale by making it clear to staff what they need
to do, how good they are doing it, and how they can progress if their success is below
par. Setting realistic goals, receiving input on success toward those goals, and rewarding
desired actions both stimulate motivation and necessitate coordination. This is very
important to achieve in mass production focused Jute mills of the company.
3. Emotional expression - Communication is a central process by which members of a
community express their happiness and anger. As a result, communication allows for the
positive processing of emotions as well as the fulfilling of social needs.
4. Information - Communication provides people and organizations with the knowledge
they need to make decisions by communicating the details required to define and
compare options. As a result, collaboration aids in decision making. This is particularly in
a multi-national organization like WGC that has offshored its manufacturing process to
Bangladesh.

Importance of understanding Cross-Cultural Communication

As Wilhelm G. Clasen is a German Company, it is important to clarify cross-cultural
communication to its executives abroad. Everyone in the company will benefit from more
effective communication skills. The portion that follows reflects on the networking facets of
corporate life and outlines pragmatic points to remember and use when communicating with a
German counterpart.

A country has its own way of expressing itself. What matters is what lies behind people's voices.
Understanding that one size does not suit everyone is the first step in communicating through
cultures. Simply because you follow those cultural habits or behaviors does not indicate that the
rest of the world follows them as well. Failure to recognize and respond to cultural differences
may mean the difference between positive outcomes and negative outcomes.
Understanding the culture of the nation is the most important prerequisite for good contact.
Culture establishes a basis for appropriate behavior, and disparities in values must be
acknowledged, respected, and appreciated before any genuine dialogue can occur. Gestures and
conversation patterns can differ between Bangladesh and Germany. Topics and gestures that we
may consider natural and appropriate may be considered taboo there. Such contact failures may
have a significant effect on the negotiating process's progress. Though Germany is a culturally
conscious society, they still have aspirations of others when it comes to knowing their culture as
an autonomous country.

20
How to become a successful cross-cultural manager communicating with German Employees
and Employers?
 Keep in mind that, while our own society offers an appropriate context for behavior and
belief, our preferences and behavior as Bangladeshi are culturally dependent and are not
always the "correct" or the only ones.
 Develop sensitivity to a variety of nonverbal and verbal behaviors. As Bangladesh lacks
diversity of a significant number foreign individuals, this might not be as intuitive as
desired but it is a very important communication skill.
 Have an open mind to all points of view and methods of doing things and keep in mind
that there are no universal gestures. So take initiative of learning common German
gestures to excel within the company.

Methods and Challenges of Interpersonal Communication:

An intention, articulated as a message to be transmitted, must exist before contact can occur. It
travels from a source (the sender) to a recipient. The message is translated to symbolic form
(called encoding) and transmitted to the receiver by any medium (channel), who retranslates the
sender's message (called decoding). As a consequence, sense is transferred from one human to
another.

The diagram depicts the components of the interpersonal communication process mechanism. It is
important to note that the whole mechanism is vulnerable to noise—disturbances that interfere with
message delivery, reception, or feedback. Unreadable print, phone static, receiver inattention, or
background noises of machines or colleagues are both forms of noise. Noise, conversely, is something
that interferes with understanding, and noise can cause distortion at any stage in the
communicating process.
An important part of interpersonal communication is Face to Face Communication. First
impressions are extremely valuable to Germans, and they may influence the result of your
business relationship with your German colleague or manager. When doing business with a
German representative of Wilhelm G. Clasen, there are a host of verbal and nonverbal contact
topics to remember.
Whereas, there are many impediments to the communication process. The most prominent
obstruction is noise, which impedes contact. Filtering may also be a hindrance to successful
interpersonal contact. As it is a concerted decision to make the details more understandable to the
recipient. An employee, for example, will tell his boss what he needs to know. Furthermore,
knowledge overload can startle managers when the sheer volume of information exceeds the
individual's ability to handle it. Furthermore, if an organization has foreign managers, language
may be an obstacle. They can find it difficult to efficiently interact with the employees. In
addition, the failure of the employee to understand Jargons may result in a breakdown in
communication. Emotions may also be obstacles to contact, and if someone is insulted, they will
be aggressive and this can impair their perception of one another.

21
Non-Verbal Communication Barriers and how to overcome them
 In a dialogue, there is a lot of personal space between the speakers. It is common for two
speakers to be at least an arm's length apart. It is common practice for a large number of
Bangladeshi employees to commonly invade personal space of their co-workers.
Remember this will be seriously unacceptable in Wilhelm G. Clasen's community
standards for the office.
 Eye interaction is both anticipated and appreciated. Uninterrupted eye contact can be
uncomfortable for people who are not accustomed to it; however, eye contact shows
focus and engagement in a conversation. When in Germany, avoiding eye contact can be
perceived as sending the opposite message. A lot of people are naturally shy but do
understand that avoiding eye contact will send a very strong negative message.
 In the course of a meeting, business cards are usually exchanged. Cards are not need to be
written in German. It's a smart idea to have a good supply of playing cards on hand. Any
title higher than a bachelor's degree should be listed on your passport.
 Germans express their gratitude for a presentation by rapping their knuckles on the table
top at the conclusion of a business meeting. This might seem new to the Bangladeshis but
this shouldn't be a considerable issue if the employees are familiarized with the customs
of a diverse Bangla-German work space.

Verbal Communication Etiquettes to be followed in Wilhelm G. Clasen

 When contacting the managers in German branch of Wilhelm G. Clasen do not contact
people at home after 10 p.m. until you have first asked them if it is okay to do so.
 When calling or e-mailing the German headquarters expect to reach out to everyone in
the workplace after 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday and after 4 p.m. on Fridays. Do
keep in mind the time zone differences and always have a German clock time available at
your disposal
 In Germany, it is customary to call yourself by your last name while answering the
phone.
 Some Germans, especially the elderly, may be uncomfortable discussing World War II
and the Holocaust. If certain topics come up in conversation, attempt to talk sensitively
and/or neutrally if you don't want to offend someone. It might be wise to stop starting
such a conversation until you are sure that the business will be open to it.
The failure of employees to comply with this instruction can result in serious action from
the HR department of Wilhelm G. Clasen as it will violate the company’s policies on
acceptable behavior.
 Germans are reserved and guide at the same time. They take their time warming up to
you before expressing their mind right away. And do not be insulted! It is not intended to
be a personal attack. This is in direct contrast to the Bangladeshi Behavior as we are very
indirect. Do keep this difference particularly in mind when interacting with German co-
workers or mangers.
 In general, Germans are very direct but also use only a few gentle, chatty words. They
usually get down to the point and hope to see outcomes at the end of the conference. So
always make sure to seal the deal when dealing with Germans. This will help you
perform well in Wilhelm G. Clasen.

22
23
Strategies for Overcoming Communicational Barriers
Wilhelm G. Clasen is a classic German company with autocratic ideology so Managers are
tasked with controlling communication and giving orders. Therefore, they are supposed to have
management skills in receiving and presenting information in a timely and successful manner. A
manager must recognize different contact obstacles, as well as the triggers of those barriers, and
begin taking proactive steps to eliminate those barriers. As a consequence, the primary duty of a
manager is to establish and maintain a coordination structure within the organization.
Managers at Wilhelm G. Clasen are further qualified to tackle obstacles in a systemic manner.
Managers are taught how to properly use suggestions. Misunderstandings and inaccuracies are at
the root of many relationship problems. If the manager gets both verbal and nonverbal feedback,
these problems are less likely to arise. Furthermore, the manager is qualified to follow up and
inquire about a message to ensure that it was properly translated and understood. On the other
hand, the manager may insist that the message be restated in the recipient's own words. If the
manager is pleased with the information provided, they will continue as expected because this
input improves accuracy. This is very important in the long production lines of the Jute mills
where any miscommunication could affect a whole batch of products.
Furthermore, a new prerequisite for managers to have two soft skills has been added to the
Wilhelm G. Clasen recruiting procedure. Candidates who possess this soft skill are given
preferential treatment. Emotional maturity and active learning are examples of soft skills.
Candidates who possess these abilities are claimed to be more empathic and capable of
communicating more efficiently. Active listening instruction is given to Wilhelm G. Clasen
managers. One of them, as previously mentioned, was the use of feedback. Another strategy is to
use brief verbal responses that are positive to encourage staff to continue communicating. A
quick nod or even an hmm will encourage an employee to speak up when they believe they are
being heard. Also, don't disturb colleagues when they're chatting; this shows them that they're
valued, and they'll be more at ease speaking if they know they're being heard.
A high level of emotional intelligence indicates the capacity to control one's feelings in difficult
environments. A three-round interview, as well as a probationary phase, was used to assess the
applicants' emotional intelligence. Furthermore, managers are taught to recognize nonverbal cues
and body language in order to improve their emotional intelligence and be more mindful of the
environment surrounding them in order to monitor it.
Last but not least, the most successful interactive technique is the use of formal written language
and emails of good grammar. German Managers appreciate the use of formal language and it
reduces the risk of miscommunication in a cross culturally diverse employee network. This is the
most reliable and professional way to connect, and it has proven to be the most effective in
conveying information throughout the company's history.
At Wilhelm G. Clasen the direction of flow of information is downwards due to the Chain
Network in the company. This is mainly in the Manufacturing department of the company in the
Jute Mills.

Summary
Transfer and interpretation of information is communication. Communication between two or
more individuals is interpersonal communication. Organizational coordination at Wilhelm G.
Classen covers all the organization's trends, networks and communication processes.
Communications functions of the company include monitoring staff behavior, encouraging
workers by motivating them and freeing up personal emotions.

24
Different communications methodologies are assessed by managers in the Jute Mills of WGC
according to input, sophistication, broad potential, confidentiality, ease of encoding, decoding
facility, time space limit, and expense, warmth, formality, scan ability and consumption time.
Moreover, AS Wilhelm G. Classen is a German business, cross-cultural contact with its foreign
executives needs to be clarified. All in the business should have better communication skills. To
become a successful cross cultural effective employee in the company keep in mind that, while
our own society offers an appropriate context for behavior and belief, our preferences and
behavior as Bangladeshi are culturally dependent and are not always the "correct" or the only
ones. Develop sensitivity and keep an open mind.
Managers at Wilhelm G. Classen employ many communicational strategies to increase company
efficiency. Any part of how they transmit information should be taken into consideration.
Strategies for communication are the guiding principles for the flow of information within the
organization. It may be verbal, nonverbal or visual to communicate tactics. Integration of both
tactics allows the management to taste the greatest success. This enables a company to satisfy
workforce requirements and improve workplace awareness.
There are many non-verbal communicational barriers such as not invading the personal space of
a German employee as it will make them feel threatened and hinder the communication process.
Make enough eye contact to show respect and understand German gestures.
Furthermore, there are also some Verbal etiquettes that you should follow within the company
such as respecting time boundaries while contacting the German Headquarters abroad and
avoiding certain topics of conversation in the work place such as WW11 and the Holocaust.
Acclimatize yourself with the community of the company to avoid any miscommunication that
can happen due to the differences in the National Culture. Understand that no gesture is
acceptable world-wide and keep a growth mindset to overcome obstacles in communication
within the company.
Therefore, the smooth flow of information within Wilhelm G. Classen allows it to function and
thrive even in foreign locations.

25
Conclusion
To conclude, the German business Wilhelm G Classen produces jute products. It is one of the
biggest and most important companies today in relation to the production of raw jute and jute
products. They are considered among the most trustworthy firms because of their customer
loyalty principle, their hard-won expertise of nearly 100 years and extensive industry insight.

Wilhelm G. Classen service ltd. was founded in Dhaka in 2008 as a subsidiary of its parent
company. The key justification for introducing it was to take advantage of all the benefits of
doing business in a comparatively low-income country while still producing goods for local
markets and large markets such as China and India, as well as to satisfy regional demand. WGC
Company has a long history of working with Bangladesh Jute Products. They mostly serve the
people of the country by categorising their product and services. In order to ensure the
consistency of their goods, they manage and coordinate all of their organization's internal
services.

However, Wilhelm G. Classen could do better in setting a foundation for the planning of their
business. An organisation should develop several short-term strategies in order to carry out a
long-term strategy, which was lacking in their case. Therefore, in order to grow their market
further, they can concentrate on particular regions because consumers in different regions have
different preferences. They should also diversify their product portfolio, as a large corporation
should have a diverse product line. They can also extend their company by entering new product
markets. As a result, they should keep these thoughts in mind as they make future plans. They
can also develop continent or sub-continent-specific strategies to extend their business in specific
areas. They will be able to concentrate on all types of clients this way. So other factors such as
customer loyalty, selling goods at a lower cost than rivals, and engaging in CRS events would
generate a positive picture of the brand, attracting more clients.

The organisation acknowledges its dedication to upholding its social and social commitments.
Since the company's inception, confidence has been built, and its adoption has been seen as a
joint obligation for the poor's needs, especially those closest to them. Wilhelm G. Classen is in
charge of the Sonali pack, which may be used instead of a plastic bag. The corporation is really
concerned with upholding its responsibilities to the environment, to save water, to create a green
workplace, to abolish the use of child labour and end gender discrimination.

Finally, since Wilhelm G. Classen is a German business, cross-cultural communication with its
international executives must be explained. Managers at Wilhelm G. Classen use a variety of
collaboration techniques to boost business productivity. Tactics may be communicated verbally,
nonverbally, or visually. The combination of these strategies helps management to achieve the
highest level of success. This helps an organisation to meet employee needs while still increasing
workplace understanding. Therefore, the smooth flow of information within Wilhelm G. Classen
allows it to function and thrive even in foreign locations.
