LEARNING ACTIVITY SHEET

PERFECT TENSES OF VERBS
Objective: Compose clear and coherent sentences using appropriate grammatical structures: aspects of verbs
(EN5G-la-3.3)
 Use perfect tenses of verbs to complete clear and coherent sentences

Background Information of Learners:

In the previous lesson, we have learned that verbs are words that express an action or state of being.
They also carry the ideas as to when the actions expressed by the verbs take place and how they take place.

You have also learned that verbs have different tense: Present Tense, Past Tense, and Future Tense.

Under each tense of verb, there are four aspects: Simple Aspect, Perfect Aspect, Progressive Aspect and
Perfect Progressive.

In this Activity Sheet, we will be focusing on the Perfect Aspect of Verbs.

Remember:
The Perfect Aspect of Verbs

The Perfect Aspect of verbs are used to show an action that is completed or finished, or perfected.
This is expressed by adding one of the auxiliary verbs, have, has or had, to the past participle form of the main
verb.

 Past participle- is a form of a verb that is used to show past action

or to make perfect tenses and adjectives.

Example:
Past tense Past Participle
come come Regular verb
broke broken Irregular verb
saw seen Irregular verb
finished finished Regular verb

Present Perfect Past Perfect Future Perfect

A completed action that is still A completed past action that took An action that will have been
relevant to the present place before another past action completed at some point in the
future
