Very good class.
You know what class; those verbs are related
with our lesson for today.
Do you have any idea of our lesson for today? None Ma’am.

lesson today. Yes Ma’am.

B. Presentation of the lesson
Our lesson for today is all about TENSES OF
VERBS.
Is there anyone here have an idea what are the
tenses of verbs? None Ma’am.
Okay. For you to know what the tenses of verbs
are, you should listen very well to our
discussion.
Is that okay with you class? Yes ma’am.
Alright! This class is so active. Now, let’s begin.
There are basically three tenses of verbs:
past, present and future.
Tenses of verb refer to the exact time the action
happened.

 Past tense is the verb form you use to

talk about things that happened in the
past.
The past tense is formed by adding d or
ed to the base form of the verb. Was or
were are the past tense of the verb be.

Example: I cleaned my closet yesterday.

So class, what verb used in the sentence? Cleaned Ma’am.

Very good. What letter/s added on the verb? ed Ma’am.
Correct! Very good class. Next is the present
tense.
 Present tense used for verbs that
describe action happening right now.
The present tense is formed by is, am or
the base form of the verb. S or es is
added to the base form of the verb when
the subject is plural.
Example: I wash dishes every day.

What verb used in the sentence? Wash Ma’am.

Very good. The next one is future tense.
 The future tense is the verb form you use
to talk about things that haven't
happened yet.
The future tense is formed by using shall
or will with the base form of the verb.

Example: I will dance on the program tomorrow. Dance Ma’am.

What is the verb used?

What word did we add before the verb? Will Ma’am.
Very good class.
You are learning. That is a good start in our
lesson today.
Now, let’s have an another example:

Now, I will show you a video presentation for

you to understand more about tenses of verbs.
Let’s all watch this.

Source:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xePbH2sN_ZI&t=80s
Alright! Did you enjoy the video class? Yes Ma’am.
Are you sure? Yes Ma’am.
C. Application
Okay. If you are really watched the video, I’ll ask
you these questions.

What are the verbs used on the video? Then,

identify if it is a past tense or a present tense.

Yes Marco? Jimmy plays in the garden. The verb is

plays and it is a present tense.
Bravo Marco. The verb is plays then we add s
on the verb because it’s a present tense.
How about you Erica? Jimmy played in the garden. Verb played
and it is past tense.
Very good Erica.
The verb in the sentence is played we add ed
because it is a past tense.
Jimmy will be playing in the garden. The
Yes Chamae? verb used was playing then it adds will be
because the sentence is a future tense.

Excellent Chamae!
Good observation. Sun rises from the east. The verb is rises
and the tense is present tense.
Another one. Yes Susana?

Very good Susana! Jimmy planted beautiful saplings in the

park. Verb is planted and it is a past tense
How about you Bryan? before the action made in the past.

Very good!

Great job children you are all learning.

And because of that give yourself a three claps.

Now, let us proceed to our group activity.
D. Activity
(Group the students into 5)

This activity is called “Sort sticky notes by past,

present, and future tense of the verb”

I have here a chart that will use to put the sticky

notes. You’re going to identify the past, present,
and future verb.
Group 1 will answer #1 then followed by #2. . . .

Are you all ready? Yes Ma’am.

(Students’ answer)

Wow! Very good class. You all already know the

tenses of verbs.
Now class, I have a question.
 How does knowing the past, present and
future tense of verbs help us to (students will share their answers)
communicate?
Tenses are used in both verbal and
written communication to tell the time
when something that happened.
Inappropriate tenses use of may lead to
misunderstanding and misinterpretation
of the sender's message.
E. Valuing
Remember, that tenses are important because it
describe things that take place at different times
– past, present and future. Also to build complex
sentence structures, for conveying complex
ideas and to bring clarity into your
communication.
D. Generalization
So now, if you are truly listening to our
discussion a while ago, can you tell me what the
three tenses of verbs are? - Past Tense
- Present Tense
- Future Tense

What is past tense?  Past tense is the verb form you use

to talk about things that happened in
the past.

Present tense?  Present tense used for verbs that

describe action happening right now.

How about future tense?  The future tense is the verb form you
use to talk about things that haven't
happened yet.
Wonderful! You did a great job today class.
Thank you for participating.
E. Evaluation
Kindly get a ½ sheet of paper.

the verb is in the present tense, Pa if it is in the
