Your checklist to start speaking Japanese in minutes!

First things first, you’re going to need:

Headphones or speakers
Make sure your computer audio isn’t muted.
Make sure you have logged in to the site.
Print this checklist and mark off items as you go!

Begin the first lesson here:

1. Listen
Read the lesson introduction.
Listen to the lesson by clicking Play under Free Content.
After listening, read the Lesson Notes listed under Basic Content and learn the
words you just heard.
Next, listen again only to the dialogue by clicking Dialog listed under Premium
Content while reading along with the Lesson Notes.
Now, listen to the Review audio clip to hear the words slowly, listed under Premium
Content.
Test yourself with a Video Review listed under Premium Content.
2. Review
Click Learning Center listed under Premium Content.
Return to the Learning Center page and study the Line‐By‐Line Audio Transcript
Locate My Voice Recorder on the left side of the page. Click this and record your own
voice. Hit the Play button to hear your recording. You can use it to compare your own
voice with the audio of the native Japanese speaker’s and improve pronunciation.
Go back to the Learning Center page and study the Vocabulary List.
Check the boxes of vocabulary you are having difficulty with and click the Add to My
Word Bank button below the vocabulary to store them for review. Later, you can go to
My Word Bank and review any words you mark in any lesson!
From the Grammar List, click on the introduced grammar points for a detailed
explanation with examples.
3. Practice
Go to Vocabulary Flashcards to review words from the lesson.
Click Content Questions to review lesson material.
Answer the Grammar Questions to test your overall lesson grammar points.
Now test yourself over the lesson vocabulary with Vocabulary Questions.
Click Kanji Close‐up under 2. Review, print the sheet, and practice writing.
