Intercultural Sensitivity Scale
Below is a series of statements concerning intercultural communication. There are no right or wrong answers.
Please work quickly and record your first impression by indicating the degree to which you agree or disagree
with the statement. Please put the number corresponding to your answer in the blank before the statement.
By calculating the average score with each skill area, students can gain some awareness of the intercultural
sensitivity communication skills that need the most attention based on those with the lower average.
Based on my scores, it seems that I have relatively higher scores in Interaction Engagement and Interaction
Confidence, indicating that I generally enjoy interacting with people from different cultures and feel confident
in doing so.
However, I have lower scores in Respect for Cultural Differences, Interaction Enjoyment, and Interaction
Attentiveness. These lower scores might suggest that I may need to work on respecting cultural differences,
finding more enjoyment in such interactions, and being more attentive to subtle cultural cues.
