FOR SAFETY OPERATION BOAT DAVIT AND WINCH

If boat davits and Boat winches are operated erroneously dangers like
unexpected falling of boats unexpected catching in to the machines
electricity shocks are expected

Before the installation machinery before operation at the time of

drills and before periodical inspection of the machinery please read
well this brochure For safety operation and related Instruction
manuals and then operate the machinery in good order

Please operate machines after obtaining thorough knowledge about

the machines about safety and cautions related At the same time
please effect enough drills and prepare for propere operation at any
time

In this brochure items are separated into two categories Danger

and Caution

1 D ang e t In case the machine is operated erroneously

serious injury or fatality is expected

there are cases in winch serious or fatal accidents
might occur depending on the situations It is
therefore also important to observe items marked
with

Mark with positive printing

4 Description of Units and Adjusting Procedure
4 1 Hand Brake Unit

The unit consists mainly of a disk wheel brake lining disk

holder and brake lever
In case of gravity lowering of the boat lifting the brake
lever causes release of the brake lining and the boat begins
lowering
To stop or reduce the speed of the boat to one half in the
course of lowering or near the
sea surface slow down the
remote control in the boat or on the broadside The brake
lining closes due to dead weight of a counterweight on the
brake lever there by stopping boat lowering

43 Auxiliary Drum for Remote Control Line in Boat

When Lifting the boat from the sea surface to the storage
Place the remote control line in the boat is wound rendomly
on the auxiliary drum because the wire size is as small as 4
li mm in diameter and the balanceweight is light at around 3kg
In other words during boat lifting operation the operator
must help take up the remote control line on the auxiliary
drum in a well ordered manner and pay attention to the clearance
of the balance weight to sheave is abt 400mm at storage place

4 5 LIMIT SWITCH DEVICE
1 Upper limit switch
1 At the uppermost poistion of boat stowing the cradle
comes in touch to the frame and if the boat falls are
still wound by motor at this time over load works
to the davit

2 So this limit switch makes a stop of motor before the

boat stowing position for the davit protection
3 Adjust the limit switch as the cradle is stoped before
200 300mm of the boat stowing position

4 PAY OUT OF BOAT FALL as operation without loadinQ

1 When it is necessary to pay out the boat fall from the
drum as on operation without load
2 Lift up the hand brake lever and keep the brake
released
3 Turn the drum by hand and pay out the fall

22
i

4 7 Safety Device of Winch Manual Handle

The safety device is incorporated to prevent accidental
h rotation of the manual handle
as inserted
1 The handle is so designed to be pushed out automatically
and prevented from rotation when the motor is started
with the handle left inserted
2 when the brake is released to lower the boat with the
manual handle left inserted the disk brake is released
to that rotation during lowering is
not transmitted to
the handle shaft

4 8 Cradle stopper
This unit fixed the cradle completely after storage of the
boat
1 After final storage of the boat with the manual handle
set the cradle stopper
2 Be sure to insert a pin to fix the lever to prevent
the stopper from being released
3 Never attempt supporting with the wire rope only while
not applying this stopper

23

4 9 Adjusting the Boat Fall

When the boat has reached the final storage position check
if cradles contact framed stoppers at stem and stern nearly
simultaneouly When unbalanced contact is observed loosen
the wire clamp and lift gradually by the manual handle Stop
lifting when both cradles contact stoppers
During lifting take due care to avoid over winding
After adjustment tighten the wire clamp

55 Wire Rope

The most important element

of this system is life of
wire rope Breakage of rope will result in
disastrous
accident and due care should be taken during maintenance
and inspection

1 Judgment of the 1 i fe
It is extremely difficult to judge the wire rope
internal state from the outside Indeed necessity of
replacement is determined by means of the outside state
Representative Factors related to judgment are

28
I

iii
kink

d Corrosion

Check if simple red rusting exists or any corrosion

has occurred or there is any possibility
of internal
corrosion

2 protection of vire rope

Application of rope oil may prove effective to prolong
the effective life of the rope It has been proved that
the oil rope shows the life at least two to three times
longer than the unoiled rope
Generally the rope oil is asphalt based with
composition oil superior in pressure and weather
resistances used as adhesive

3 Checking for abnormality in joint and termination

Check the joint for any protrding dislodging
inserted terminal wire or for any displaced clip

4 Replacing the boat fall

Replace both ends within a period not more then two
years and a half Where necessary due to wear or not later
than five years whichever is earlier replace

41 Replacing the boat fall

Replace fall renewal whenever necessary due to deterioration

56 Limit switch

1 Should check all limit switches for free movements to ensure

troublefree operations

2 As shown by the following pictures roller and pin lever and
