Quantum to X80 Backplane Mounting Plate Installation Guide

The Quantum to X80 mounting plate easily adapts the X80 backplane to the original Quantum
mounting pattern. This allows the mounting of X80 backplanes and modules to the original
mounting location, without modification.
NOTE: The mounting plate is not designed to be used with chassis mount I/O adapter assemblies.
Use the following information to order the appropriate mounting plate for your Quantum backplane:

1. The X80 backplane is not part of the assembly. It must be purchased separately.

To install a Quantum to X80 mounting plate, follow these steps:

Step Action
1 Remove the Quantum backplane from its mounting location. Retain the mounting hardware for re-
use:

2 Install the mounting plate using the retained mounting hardware. The mounting plate can accept
M6 or smaller hardware. The mounting plate grounding screws are located in the same position as
on the Quantum backplane. They identify the lower left corner of the mounting plate:

Step Action
3 Attach the X80 backplane to the mounting plate. The recommended tightening torque for these
screws is 2.8...3.4 N•m (25...30 lb-in):

NOTE:
 If an Ethernet + X Bus backplane is being installed, use the flat washers and longer 20 mm
(0.787 in) mounting screws that were supplied.
 If a PV02 or greater X Bus backplane is being installed, use the flat washers and longer 20 mm
(0.787 in) mounting screws that were supplied.
 If a PV01 X Bus backplane is being installed, use the flat washers and the shorter 16 mm
(0.630 in) mounting screws that are supplied.
4 Install the I/O modules into the X80 backplane.
