HPHM Beyond Hogwarts Unofficial Q & A

Note: This document will be updated as more information is discovered.

When will Year 8 be available?

There are currently two more chapters left to release in Year 7: 59 and 60. According to Jam
City (and the countdown in the game), the first players will graduate and unlock Year 8 on July
27, 2023.

What happens if I’m not caught up on the story?

As with graduating in previous Years, players will need to complete Year 7 before they unlock
the ‘Beyond Hogwarts’ / Year 8 content.

Will my character still be child-sized in Year 8?

No! We’re finally breaking free from whatever curse followed us through all of Hogwarts and will
experience a major growth spurt upon graduation. The Jam City announcement included
pictures of an Adult Penny and MC who are roughly the same size as other adults in the game.

But what about all those clothes I’ve

collected?

It appears that the MC’s model will just be

scaled up in size to become an Adult and
this will include their clothing.

This picture is from a ‘Beyond Hogwarts’

screenshot in the Google Playstore.

Will I still be able to do classes at Hogwarts in Year 8? [updated]

No. While we will still be able to ‘Explore’ locations, study sessions and dorm access will be
unavailable after graduation.

Obviously not having access to Hogwarts’ repeatable classes will require major overhauls of
certain events (eg. Full Marks). We’ve already seen changes to the Crest Event (aka Collect
Stars) where instead of needing to complete classes, you can complete full stars in any class or
task to earn Crests.
While Year 8 will still have Assignments, it does not appear that there will be new lessons to
complete. Instead there seems to be a new game mechanic called ‘requisites’:

● "Complete the Main Quest chapters and the chapter’s requisites to progress to the next
chapter!"
● "Each chapter has a required number of requisites that needs to be completed!"
● "There may be more requisites than required in each chapter - you can choose ones
you’d like to work on!"
● "There are mandatory requisites that you have to complete, as well as optional ones you
can choose to do or not. Some requisites may have a special unlock condition."

Will I still be able to complete Scavenger Hunts and First Person Events in Y8?
[updated]

We’re not sure. It would depend on whether we still have full access to Hogwarts, as the
majority of locations needed for those events are there. The Jam City announcement stated that
we will still be able to return to Hogwarts:

● "While players seek adventure beyond the school grounds, the story will bring them
back to Hogwarts where they’ll continue to interact with fan favourite canon professors
and characters."

Locations will still be ‘Explorable’ at Hogwarts, however as both the starting and ending points of
the tasks occur at Hogwarts and the storylines for the tasks are student-based, these aspects
will need to be updated for Y8.

What about hangouts and dating locations? [updated]

We have confirmation that the Hogwarts Dating Locations will no longer be available, however a
new spot in Hogsmeade will:

● "Dates at Hogwarts are not available anymore but you can continue doing dates in the
Three Broomsticks! Stay tuned for more locations!"

According to JC’s FAQ only the Three Broomsticks (for hangouts) and Madam Puddifoot’s
Teashop (for any level of dating) will be available in Y8, though more locations will be added in
the future. No mention was made of Club quizzes, though we have seen indications in the game
code that those will continue.

Will Study with a Friend still be available? [updated]

JC’s FAQ confirmed this activity (and the Page exchange feature) will be available in the Former
Student Centre (likely in the Idle Library).
Will I still be able to have hangouts with all my Friends?

Per the game code:

● "All your friends are here! Some friends might be away and not ready for a meetup - but
stay tuned. They might come back again soon!"

We know at least two friends do not plan to stay around London (Ben and Diego), so they would
be a priority to get maxed out if you haven’t done so already.

Will Quidditch and Duelling still be accessible? [updated]

Yes, but in new locations. You can see the new Duelling Club in TDP128.

It is also confirmed Quidditch will be available and it sounds like a new post-Hogwarts story
could be coming, too.

UPDATE: JC has said that while this will be returning, Friendlies and Quidditch events will be
‘on pause’ for awhile until the feature is updated. If you have not completed the Quidditch
storyline, it will be available via the Memory Book and you will still be able to do the Friendlies
required for that storyline.:

● "Keep your brooms at the ready because the game is about to change."
● "So dust off your broomsticks, polish your skills, and get ready to dive headfirst into the
mesmerizing world of Quidditch. The game is about to begin, and the stage is set for an
extraordinary adventure. Brace yourself for a spellbinding experience that will leave you
craving more, as the return of Quidditch takes the wizarding world by storm once again!"

Do I need to complete all the Side Quests and TLSQs before graduating Year 7?
[updated]

No. JC has confirmed that both past and future SQs and TLSQs will be accessible for Y8
players via the Memory Book (confirmed by this code):

● "Check out the Side Quest tab for any fun/new Side Quests that are available for your
Beyond Hogwarts gameplay."
● "Any past Side Quests or Special Adventures from Year 1 through 7 at Hogwarts are
available in the Memories Tab."
● "Some past Special Adventures may also be found in the Memory Book, so please
check it out!"
Will the Creature Reserve still be accessible? [updated]

Yes, the Creature Reserve will still be accessible. Creature side quests will be available via the
Memory Book.

But where will I get more Creature Food? [updated]

A new location called the ‘Crafting Garden’ be available to find sustenance for our zoo.
According to JC, it will be located in the Creature Reserve and the feature will unlock upon
completing Y8C4.

Where will my character live in year 8?

Our characters will be getting their own flats. There will be three different locations to choose
from: Hogsmeade, Diagon Alley and Godric’s Hollow. Also three different styles of flat: Cozy,
Eclectic and Sleek. We think the style could be chosen independently from the location, but
that has not been confirmed.

Can I use my furniture sets in the Flat?

Yes! There is a perfectly shaped little alcove in each Flat that exactly fits our dorm room
furniture sets:

If you look closely, you can also see a

dorm set in Jam City’s picture of the
Flat (it’s the Malfoy Manor set):
Will I be able to decorate my Flat?

Yes!

● "This is your new living space! Tap here to decorate your flat!"
● "All your dorm furniture, pets and tappable rewards are moved here! You can tap each
piece to make changes."
● "In addition to your furniture, now you can customize your dorms with the decor you
earned from Clubs."
● "These additional decor spots are removable unlike the furniture from your dorm. Keep
increasing your Club levels to earn more decor!"
● "Here's a housewarming gift! Tapping this item will equip it."

We have yet to find anything on what the ‘housewarming gift’ will be.

What about my Pets?

Yes, as stated above our Dorm Zoo will migrate over to the Flat with our furniture sets.

Will we have additional spots for placing tappies?

As of right now, we’re very confident that all the Secret Clubhouse tappie locations will be
transferred over to the Alumni Secret Club. Last month’s social post for the Pride Flag
Giveaway actually gave us a sneak peek of this:

We haven’t seen any indications of new tappie spots yet. However, JC will need to get on that,
as players that have managed to collect every tappie in the game so far have zero spots left.
And it’s not just Year 8 players that will need those new spots.
Will energy requirements be increasing for tasks and assignments?

Unfortunately no energy requirements for Year 8 specific tasks have been added yet, but based
on what’s happened throughout the game so far, the answer is: highly probable.

Will there be ways to increase our energy cap without having access to new
Flying classes?

We don’t know, but we certainly hope so. Year 7 saw the Energy Capacity increase by a measly
3 points over the 58 chapters released so far. In comparison, Year 6 increased by 8 capacity
over 46 chapters and Year 5 saw a 6 capacity increase over 34 chapters.

By contrast Year 7 saw a substantial energy requirement increase for classes and tasks:

1h 3h 8h

Y5a 34 60 103 Up to Y5C16

Y5b 37 63 106 Y5C17+

Y6a 40 66 109 Up to Y6C23

Y6b 43 71 117 Y6C24+

Y7a 46 77 127 Up to Y7C36

Y7b 50 84 138 Y7C37+

Even with an Energy Capacity expansion, if this energy increase trend continues for Year 8, it
will not only make classes and tasks difficult to finish on time, but some events will become
nearly impossible.

What about Club rewards? [updated]

It has been confirmed that Club XP can continue to be earned after graduating.

A piece of the Club furniture sets (the Nightstand) have yet to be included in the rewards, so
hopefully they’ll be adding more ranks to include that (a matching Chair and Backboard would
be nice, too).

Also, the info about decorating our Flat says:

● "These additional decor spots are removable unlike the furniture from your dorm. Keep
increasing your Club levels to earn more decor!"
Will my Attributes be reset in Year 8? [updated]

No, your Attribute levels will carry over after graduation.

What are Specializations? [updated]

According to JC’s announcement, Specializations will:

● “[Allow players] to shape how they play and which path they’d like to pursue”

The game code also has:

● "Keep playing through Year 7 and Beyond to unlock and explore

different career Specialisations."

So far we know there are three: Auror, Healer and Magizoologist.

We also think they likely have a similar reward scheme to the Clubs (you
can already see the tab for Specializations in the Club tab and outfits have been found to match
each profession). However, they also have Icons for the Lesson Journal, which makes it appear
we will be doing tasks or assignments related to each Expertise, rather than clicking colored
outlines. According to JC, you can choose to focus on one track or all of them.

This feature may not unlock until Y8C6, as that chapter features an Assignment called “Explore
Career Specializations”.

Will there be more dating choices in Year 8?

We haven’t seen anything to indicate we are getting more at this time. Though we also haven’t
had an update to the Dating mechanic since February 2022, so we’re definitely overdue for
some new stuff.

However, we have seen code to indicate we will be able to ‘pause’ exclusive relationships:

● "Once you are exclusive with a character, you can only go on a date with that character.
Doing a date with an exclusive partner will give you more bonus points!"
● "You can also pause your exclusive relationship. You may lose a little bit of your
progress, resulting in a reduction in your Romance level with the character."

So if they do decide to add new dating options and you want to try them out, you won’t have to
completely sacrifice an exclusive relationship to do so.
What types of Event tasks will be getting in Year 8?

We've found a list of Year 8 tasks. At this time, we're not entirely sure if they are for Full Marks,
the new Requisite mechanic, Daily Planner or some combination of those. [X] represents
whatever number of the tasks is being asked for:

● "Complete [X] Dates!"

● "Earn FULL Stars [X] times from any Wizarding Tasks!"
● "Successfully complete [X] minigames in any Wizarding Tasks!"
● "Duel [X] times in the Toothill Duelling Club!"
● "Earn [X] Diamonds from any hang out in the Dragon Club!"
● "Win [X] Duels in the Toothill Duelling Club!"
● "Buy [X] new pieces of furniture for your flat!"
● "Complete [X] Creature Expedition!"

● "Complete [X] Main Quest chapter!"

● "Complete [X] Chapter Tasks!"
● "Earn [X] Stars from any Wizarding Tasks!"
● "Earn FULL Stars from any Wizarding Tasks [X] times!"
● "Successfully complete [X] minigames in any Wizarding Tasks!"
● "Earn FULL Stars from Main Quest Tasks [X] times!"
● "Earn [X] Stars from Main Quest Tasks!"
● "Earn [X] Stars from any Story Tasks or Wizarding Tasks!"
● "Earn FULL Stars from any Story Tasks or Wizarding Tasks [X] times!"
● "Earn [X] Stars from any Wizarding Tasks!"

It appears instead of class-specific tasks, there will be location-specific tasks. All of these also
have versions that don't include 'story tasks':

● "Earn FULL Stars from any Story Tasks or Wizarding Tasks [X] times in the ROCC!"
● "Earn FULL Stars from any Story Tasks or Wizarding Tasks [X] times in Diagon Alley!"
● "Earn FULL Stars from any Story Tasks or Wizarding Tasks [X] times in your flat!"
● "Earn FULL Stars from any Story Tasks or Wizarding Tasks [X] times at Hogwarts!"
● "Earn FULL Stars from any Story Tasks or Wizarding Tasks [X] times in the Ministry of
Magic!"
