Students will learn the Elements of Art in this Unit Lesson. This lesson is the first part, where we cover
Line.

Watch the video and complete the assignment.

Students will create a 3D optical illusion artwork using the Element of Art: Line.

1. Watch video.
2. Students will take a piece of paper and trace the outline of their hand on the paper.
3. Students will tick mark the left and right sides at ½ inches for the height of the paper (from top
to bottom on the left and right side of the paper)
4. Students will connect the tick marks on the left (with the corresponding one on the right side)
with a line using the ruler, making sure NOT to pass through the student hand drawing.
5. Students will then make curved lines (like upside down U’s) connecting the previous lines over
the hand drawing.
6. When all lines are finished students can either color in the lines, add shading, or leave it as is.
