environment
What materials will be used?
Cameras, costumes to go with scripts, backgrounds, computer to edit on, props

How will the learning environment be set up?

The students will be able to pick where at the preschool they plan to film each scene, if two students pick the same
area they will then have to shoot on two separate days

Instructional Procedures: (This will be one of the most detailed sections of this assignment).
We will begin the lesson by discussing as a group what our favorite movies are and why they are our favorite. To allow
the children to be able to express all feelings, they will have 30 minutes. We then will talk about what technology is used
in the filming process ( Cameras, lights, editing, etc.). This will take another 15 minutes. I will finally introduce the
activity, breaking students up into groups to plot. I will then go to each group to discuss what roles they will play, (actor,
crew, cameraman, director, etc.). The students will be allowed 30 to plot, grab all materials needed, costumes, run
through movie if needed. The students will be given 45 minutes to film, divided across 2 days. They will finally each have
30 minutes to edit with a teacher until finally we have a viewing day where everyone can watch the movies.
Day 1:
The first 30 minutes will be used to talk about favorite movies, 15 to talk about what is used in movies. They will be
allowed 30 to plot. We will divide filming into 2 days, about 20 minutes each day.

Day 2:
Day 2 will have the remainder of filming happen, they will have 30 minutes to edit and we will use about an hour to
view.

Extension
If students want to learn more about the technology used during class they can explore the website:
https://seatup.com/blog/kids-guide-to-making-movies/ This allows them to go into more depth of what each item is
used for.

Differentiated Instructional Support: Describe how instruction can be differentiated (changed or altered) to meet the
needs of gifted or accelerated students: To challenge students that may be more advanced, they could physically write
out their script and have to read off of it while also trying to use memory to recite off of it.

Discuss additional activities you could do to meet the needs of students who might be struggling with the material:
To help the students that maybe struggling with the activity, we can give a little less freedom and check in throughout
the process much more. When assigning roles they may be given the roles that don’t appear to be as challenging but still
very hands on.

Vocabulary: technology, improv, director,

For teachers We will need cameras, extra lighting, editing systems on computer, costumes from dramatic play area,
props from around the classroom. The teacher will have to explain how to use the camera and monitor
throughout the process to make sure it is going smoothly. We will use a tripod to keep it from being
held and the shots aren’t shakey. The teacher will also be in charge of editing with the help of the
student.
For students Cameras on tripod, use of editing system, lights, costumes, props, paper and pens.
