NARRATIVE REPORT
S.Y.2022-2023

The CRLA was initially conceived as a 5-minute start -up reading assessment
designed to help teachers quickly determine the reading profiles of their G1-G3
learners. The main goal is to identify children who need additional support in
reading. Based on the CRLA pretest result administered it shows that most of the
G1-G3 learners need full refresher in subjects MTB-MLE, Fil. English with their
learners result adviser of different grade level had their full out support to
conduct remedial classes to improve learners reading ability.

The CRLA’S post test evaluation was conducted last march 2023 and it shows that
the pupils improved their reading performance based on the figures indicated in the attached
file.

1. The Reading Level of Grade I-III, Learners in Mother Tongue, Fil. & English

The reading level of the Grade I pupils as revealed in their CRLA during the beginning of the school

year showed that out 101 of assessed pupils, 87 learners belonged to full refresher, 23 learners in a moderate

refresher, 31 in light refresher and 47 learners are grade ready.

Meanwhile, at the end of the school year, there were 83 learners in a full refresher, 36 in a moderate

refresher, in light refreshers, and 52 grade-ready learners. This showed that the reading level of the learners

improved after the intervention was conducted as further revealed by year-end assessment results.

Based on the result, there was a decrease of 5% in a full refresher, from 83 at the Beginning of the School Year

(BoSY) to 87 at the End of the School Year. Meanwhile, the moderate refresher increased by 36% or from 23

to 36 learners. The light refresher learners on the other hand decreased by 14%, or from 27 at the beginning of

the school year to 4 at the end of the school year. The number of Grade Ready learners increased by 19%, or

from 58 at the beginning of the school year to 47 at the end of the school year.
