Background of the Project

Waste is the by-product of man and is produced everyday. The global community has
recognized that solid waste management (SWM) is an issue that requires serious attention.
Waste Disposal Problems in the Philippines, like many other fast-developing countries, have
been hinged on unsustainable plastic manufacturing and use, as well as inadequate solid waste
management infrastructure. An enlightenment revolution to individuals even on the streets
should be carried out so that people would know the ways they contribute to waste disposal in
the Philippines and the effects on them.

Nowadays, we are suffering from environmental dilemmas such as global warming, flash
floods, and etc. One of the causes of these problems is the misbehavior of the people towards
waste management. Some people are reckless in throwing their garbage. They do not think of
the possible results of their actions on the environment as well as on health.Proper waste
disposal is needed to properly execute waste management. Without properly executing waste
disposal, difficulty in waste management also emerge. It is also proven that human activities
and lack of discipline are the main reason for improper waste disposal that makes the problem
difficult to resolve.

The prospect of this awareness is to primarily focus on the engagement of proper waste
disposal and discourage the burning of plastics. We may clean, restore, and rehabilitate public
places or other sites (such as vacant lots or abandoned properties) that have been neglected,
damaged, or mistreated by working together on this project. This type of cleanup can take
place in a variety of public locations, including parks, riverbanks, schoolyards, sidewalks,
playing fields, and even parking lots, to mention a few. To have a clean surrounding that is
essential for a healthy living, people will segregate biodegradable materials, apply the 3R’s
(reduce, re-use, recycle) and practice the “clean and green” principle.
