About Loop

The Indian healthcare system is flawed. Hospitals react to

sickness but do not offer quality care. Doctors attend to the
patients but do not give them enough time and care. Bills
are soaring high, booking an appointment is cumbersome,
and lab tests are getting expensive.

You see, there are many areas that need attention. And
that’s what we, at Loop, are aiming to fix. At scale. We’ve
built an insurance and care platform that makes employee
health benefits simple, useful, and holistic.

Founded in 2018, Loop Health is the fastest-growing B2B

healthcare startup in India. We’re proud to serve 400+
companies like NoBroker, Medline, Zoomcar, General
Electric, and Bajaj to insure 300,000+ employees and their
families. We are backed by top-tier investors like Elevation
Capital, Khosla Ventures, and General Catalyst, and have
raised more than $40m+ towards our vision of rebuilding
healthcare and insurance from the ground up.

5
Get personal with employee
recognition

Employee recognition is a vital part of building engagement.

But many HR managers make the mistake of treating it like
a cookie-cutter recipe. Instead, think of it like a personalized
birthday cake.

Just as every cake is unique to the person it’s made for,

employee recognition should be tailored to each employee’s
individual preferences and strengths. Consider things like
their work style, hobbies, and communication preferences.

→ For example, if an employee loves reading, a bookstore

gift card might be more meaningful than a generic gift
card. By making recognition more personal, you show
employees that you value and appreciate them as
individuals, not just as worker bees.

6
Use the power of storytelling

Humans are wired for stories, which you can use to your
advantage. Instead of sending out dry company-wide emails,
try framing updates and messages as a story.

This could be a narrative about a team member’s recent

success or a tale of how a project came to be. By using
storytelling, you create a sense of connection and meaning
that can help boost engagement and motivation.

→ For example, instead of sending out an email that reads,

“The Q2 numbers are in, and we need to improve our
sales,” try framing it as a story. “Meet Ankita, a sales
rep who was struggling to meet her quota. But with
determination and hard work, she exceeded her targets.
We can all learn from Ankita’s example and strive to
achieve our own goals.” By using storytelling, you make
the message more engaging and inspiring.

7
Encourage physical movement

Physical movement is important for physical and mental

health and can boost engagement. HR managers can
encourage activity in various ways, from offering on-site
yoga classes to hosting walking meetings.

But why stop there? Consider implementing a “walking

challenge” where employees track their steps and compete
against each other for prizes. Or, set up a “standing desk
challenge” to see who can spend the most time standing
during the workday.

Not only do these challenges promote movement, but they

also foster a sense of community and friendly competition
that can boost engagement and morale.

8
Foster autonomy

Feeling in control of one’s work is a key component of

engagement. HRs can help foster this by promoting
autonomy. This could be as simple as allowing employees to
choose their own work hours or workspaces. Or as complex
as implementing a results-only work environment (ROWE).

→ For example, instead of micromanaging a team’s

project, try giving them a high-level overview of the
objectives and then letting them come up with their
own plan of attack.

Giving employees more control over their work fosters a

sense of ownership and pride that can lead to increased
engagement and satisfaction.

9
Keep it fun

Incorporate games and team-building activities into

the workday.

→ For example, you could organize a weekly trivia game,

a ping-pong tournament, or a company-wide
scavenger hunt.

These activities give employees a break from their regular

work and allow them to socialize and bond with their
colleagues. This can improve workplace relationships and
increase collaboration between teams.

From ‘Meh’ to ‘Yeah!’:
How the engagement playbook can help you
transform your workplace

Create a work environment that fosters collaboration,

creativity, and job satisfaction. It ultimately leads to
improved productivity and business outcomes.

By keeping things fun and incorporating team-building

activities, develop a work culture that employees look
forward to participating in. You can personally differentiate
your organization and connect with employees through
unique perspectives.

Overall, this playbook provides a roadmap for HR leaders

to successfully improve employee engagement and create
a positive work culture that benefits employees and
the organization.
