Realism, which posits the idea of being motivated by self-interest, power, and security concerns
in their interactions with other nations (Alhammadi, 2022). China's territorial claims, military
buildup, and forceful behaviour in the South China Sea are motivated by its ambition to defend
its maritime boundaries, preserve key trade lanes, and create a buffer zone to improve its security
(Alhammadi, 2022). Due to its natural riches and geopolitical significance, the South China Sea
is strategically important to China, and its activities there reflect its quest for domination and
strength in its near area. Also in line with Neo-Realist concepts, which emphasize the
policy towards Taiwan Hong Kong and its ambitions to modernize its military.
Question 2
emphasize dialogue, diplomacy, and economic cooperation to promote common interests and
push China to comply with international rules (Alhammadi, 2022). The international community
should seek opportunities for dialogue and collaboration with China on issues such as climate
change and global health while addressing concerns through peaceful negotiations. Moreover, a
Neo-Liberal policy would place a high priority on bolstering international institutions in addition
to encouraging communication and diplomacy to handle global issues and promote cooperation
successfully.
