Direction: Explain concisely.

1. What is your own concept of philosophy? 7pts.

➢ Philosophy is a discipline that explores fundamental questions about the nature of reality,
knowledge, existence, ethics, and the meaning of life. On the other hand, philosophy explores
ideas that are central to the ways we live and that we commonly use without much
reflection, such as truth and justice, the notion of consciousness, and good and evil. It seeks
to address profound inquiries that go beyond the scope of the empirical sciences.
Additionally, philosophy makes us more knowledgeable in terms of our daily lives; it helps us
to widen our mind on what to do for us to have a good way of living.
2. In your own opinion, why should we study philosophy?10pts.
➢ As we probably all know, philosophy is the study of general and fundamental problems, such
as those connected with existence, knowledge, values, reason, the mind, and language. By
these, I can definitely say that we should study and understand philosophy, as it helps us
humans to express our ideas that enrich the lives of people through our experience,
sociability, observations, and gaining more wisdom. Additionally, philosophy helps us make
sense of events in our daily lives or experiences, which helps us grow as people and improve
our abilities. Other than that, philosophy helps us have a lot of opportunities in our future
fields or lives. And in reaching our life goals, we should have enough knowledge, values, and
principles to cope with them.
3. According to Socrates the admission of ignorance is the beginning of wisdom.
Do you agree? Why?17pts.
➢ Yes. Admitting ignorance can be viewed as the beginning of wisdom because it opens the
door to a genuine pursuit of knowledge. When one recognizes their lack of knowledge or
understanding in a particular area, it creates an opportunity for learning and growth. It
promotes curiosity, a willingness to strive, and a desire to seek out new information and
viewpoints. Furthermore, admitting ignorance can foster humility and an openness to
different viewpoints, and it acknowledges that there is always more to learn. However,
although some may prioritize other facets of the search for knowledge, I myself can view the
acknowledgment of ignorance as a key step towards obtaining wisdom.
4. Define ethics. 13pts.
➢ Ethics is a branch of philosophy that examines moral principles and values. It explores
questions about what is right or wrong and guides human behavior and decision-making.
Ethics, on the other hand, play a crucial role in promoting responsible behavior, protecting
individuals' rights, and fostering a just and equitable society.
5. define logic. 13 pts.
➢ Logic refers to the systematic study and analysis of reasoning and inference. It is a discipline
that focuses on principles and methods for evaluating the validity and soundness of
arguments. Additionally, logic aims to provide a framework for distinguishing between
correct and incorrect reasoning, helping to ensure clear and consistent thinking.
