ETHICS: MORAL VS. NON-MORAL STANDARD


Activity #2 Date:

Directions: List down at least 10 rules that you know which are imposed on
you to follow. It can be in your family, church, community, and other
organizations. Identify and explain if it is a Moral or Non-moral standard.

Examples:

1. Respect others’ property.


Moral: Respect is a rule that is dominant in every culture and respecting
others’ property is a natural rule that shows the goodness of people
2. Do not drink alcoholic beverages.
Non-moral: drinking alcoholic beverages will not make a person immoral as
long as he or she will not harm other people under the influence of alcohol.

follow. Identify and give short explanation if it is moral or non-moral.
Ethics is the branch of philosophy that studies morality or the
rightness or wrongness of human conduct. It stands to queries
about what there is reason to do. It deals with human actions
and reasons for the actions and is mainly concerned with the
person’s character. Ethics and morality carry the concept, values,
principles, and standards. Because it is concerned with norms of
human conduct, ethics is considered a normative study of human
actions
