FMF1.6 Off the bus

(F / Y1) Counting back in 1s
Line children up. Imagine you are all on my bus. Say the number
of people on the bus (the total number of children in class that
day). For example, There are twenty-six people on my bus today.
Point to a child and say Time for you to get off the bus! That
child does a little jump, as if getting off the bus, and says the
number 1 less than the total, for example Twenty-five. You say
There are now twenty-five people on my bus! Point to another
child, who also does a little jump and says the number 1 less than
that, Twenty-four. Keep going until there is no one left on the
bus.

Adaptations
Can also be used for:
• counting back in 2s, if you choose two children at a time (Y1 / Y2)
