ASSIGNMENT UNIT 7

Case study: Country C (Asia)

To: head.chamber.countryC@gmail.com
From: takashimizu.cycles@gmail.com
Subject: Cooperation proposal

Dear Head of the Chamber of Commerce,

I am Phuong, the director of Taka Shimizu Cycles. I am writing to you regarding our plan to
build a bicycle factory in your country.

First, I want to introduce our company. Our company is Taka Shimizu Cycles (ISC), based
in Nagoya, Japan. Our brand is well-known in Japan and the United States. We produce and
sell four models of bicycles: road bicycles, touring bicycles, racing bicycles, and mountain
bicycles.

Our company plans to expand in Asia to become a truly global company. We are looking for
a new location abroad to build a new factory for bicycles. We have looked at several
countries in Europe and Asia, and we are particularly interested in your country. We decided
to expand in your country because we need a perfect geographical location. What is
important to us, you have a large supply of qualified workers if necessary workers will be
recruited locally and trained at a special school set up for that purpose. The factory will have
approximately 2000 workers, who will produce the frames for the cycles locally. Other
components, such as saddles, gears, chains, and tires will be imported.

I would like to arrange a meeting with you so that we can discuss the proposal further. May I
suggest one of the following dates: 20 March or 5 April.
I looking forward to hearing from you.

Best regard,
