Argument about Jose Rizal and the Rizal Law

A. 5 statements about my agreement of Rizal being a national hero.

1. Rizal did not push for independence, his writings and execution inspired many
Filipinos to revolt against Spain.
2. Rizal's ideas helped formulate a national identity for the Philippines.
3. Rizal became the voice of the Filipinos long oppressed by centuries-old Spanish
rule.
4. Rizal fought for freedom of the Philippines in a silent but powerful way.
5. Rizal expressed his love for the Philippines through his novels, essays and
articles.

B. 5 statements about my disagreement of Rizal being a national hero

1. Rizal's novels focus more on anti-church sentiments.

2. Rizal is not a national hero because he rejected the idea of revolution and bloodshed
which are the qualifications for the position of national hero.
3. Rizal didn't give blood for the freedom of the Philippines unlike Andreas Bonifacio who
fought physically with the spaniards.
4. Rizal did not become a leader of the Revolution that made him not deserving to be
called a national hero.
5. Rizal's work gave a distorted picture of the country's situations in the 19th century

C. 5 statements why Rizal's life, works, and writings should be offer to higher
education
1. To rededicate the lives of youth to the ideals of freedom and nationalism, for
which our heroes lived and died. And to encourage the application of such ideals
in current social and personal problems and issues.
2. To make the Filipino youth gain an inspiring source of patriotism and foster the
development in all aspects of citizenship.
3. To recognize the importance of Rizal's ideals and teachings in relation to present
conditions and situations in the society.
4. To make the Filipino youth develop an appreciation and deeper understanding of
what Rizal fought and died for.
5. To pay tribute to our national hero for devoting his life and works in shaping the
Filipino character.
