CHAPTER III.

Research Design

The researchers will use the case study as a method to determine the

attitudes and perspective of the senior high school department in ICT Integration

at King Thomas Learning Academy Inc. Survey is to be used to determine the

factors affecting the integration of ICT in teaching of senior high school teachers.

Research Setting

This study will be conducted at King Thomas Learning Academy

Incorporation, located along Malubago, Sipocot, Camarines Sur. The participants

will be from the senior high school department teachers of the said institution.

King Thomas Learning Academy, Inc. was founded year 2010. Its humble

beginning utilized a makeshift building of coco-lumber and thatched roofing. It

offers kindergarten, elementary, junior high school, senior high school, and

Technical-Vocational Education programs. This was in accordance to Republic

act No. 10533 otherwise known as the Enhanced Basic Education Act of 2013. It

is an act enhancing the Philippine Basic Education as System by strengthening

the number of years for basic education, appropriating funds and for other

purposes.

Participants

The participants of the study will be the selected teachers of the Senior

high school department employed in the Academic year 2021-2022. The

distribution of the participants where two (2) teachers from Grade 11 and three

(3) teachers from grade 12 in the division of Camarines Sur, 1 st District. There will

be a total of 5 participants in this study. Convenience sampling will be used to

select the participants.

Research Instrument

The main instrument that will be use in this study is an interview method

and Focus Group Discussion (FGD) in order to promote the authenticity of the

information or data that was given by the participants. The questions asked will

be based on the research questions. Tools or equipment used in the process of

gathering data are the survey questionnaires that would be also based from the

research questions of the study.

Participant Recruitment

The researchers will first send a letter of approval to the principal of the

senior high school department of King Thomas Learning Academy Inc. This is

also to request a list of teachers that handles the Senior High subjects. Once

approved, the researcher will select the participants from the list. Once the target

participants is selected, a letter of consent will be given to them. If the target

participants approve to be a part of the study, and then an appointment will be

set. If the target participants declined to be a part of the study, the researchers

will seek for another participant that is connected to the study. Letter and

approval undergo formal dissemination of the information. The researchers will

assure the confidentiality of information given by the participants.

Validity

The researchers will gather valuable information about this study through

collecting records and documents from the participants. The researchers will also

observed in-depth scrutiny and will seek alternative explanations for effective

formulation and analyzation of the data that will strengthen the output of the

study.

Data Gathering Procedure

The researchers will sought the approval from the principal of the senior

high school department of King Thomas Learning Academy Inc. in the conduct of

this research. A communication letter will be given to the chosen participants of

the said institution to inform them on what is the interview for and to ask

permission or consent to record the conversation. Once approve individual

interviews or focus group discussion will be administered. During the interview,

the set of questions that will be ask and answer by the participants is based from

the research questions of the study to determine their attitudes and perception on

ICT integration. The interview will be recorded. The instruments that will be use

must suit the research goal. After the researchers gather all the data that was

needed, a written transcription is to be done next for analysis.
