THE WIND
By Robert Louis Stevenson

All: I saw you toss the kites on high

And blow the birds about the sky;
Boys: And all around I heard you pass,
Girls: Like ladies’ skirts across the grass–
All: (soft) O wind, a-blowing all day long,
(loud) O wind, that sings so loud a song!

All: I saw the different things you did,

But always YOU yourself you hid.
Boys: I felt you push,
Girls: I heard you call,
All: I could not see yourself at all (fade away volume)--
(soft) O wind, a-blowing all day long,
(loud) O wind, that sings so loud a song!

All: O you that are (Boys:) so strong! (Girls:) and cold,

O blower, are you young or old?
Solo: Are you a beast
All: of field and tree,
Or just a stronger child than me?
All: (soft) O wind, a-blowing all day long,
(loud) O wind, that sings so loud a song!
