The Sustainable Jurisdictions Indicators is an initiative developed by the Directorate of

Food and Agriculture of the Ministry of National Development Planning (Bappenas) of

Indonesia, in order to implement: a) The Sustainable Jurisdiction Narrative contained in
the Presidential Regulation 18/2020 concerning the National Mid-Term Development
Plan (RPJMN) 2020-2024, Sustainable Development Goals (especially SDG 2), and
Principles for Sustainable Investment in Agriculture and Food System (FAO, 2014).
The “Sustainable Jurisdictions Indicators” will be displayed on a platform that allows
various parties to view and picture the situation, commitments, and performance of the
regions nationally.

OBJECTIVES SUSTAINABLE JURISDICTION

Promoting commitment and practice of sustainable
commodity production at the district jurisdiction level,
especially for plantation commodities.
Encouraging the district government to be more
committed and create enabling conditions for the
establishment of sustainable plantation commodity
management and production practices in the region,
through the development of various incentives, including
through the promotion of regional green investment
potential together with the Ministry of Investment.
Providing accurate and reliable information based on
government data curated with multi-stakeholders on the
situation and commitment to the sustainability of
jurisdiction for potential investors and/or export
destination countries.
INDICATORS
The Sustainable Jurisdictions Indicators has 23
indicators, to measure the commitment and
situation of a commodity-producing region that
is sustainable and inclusive. These indicators are
built on the basis of Indonesia's legal framework
as well as various international commitments,
especially the SDGs. These indicators are also
expected to provide an enabling environment
for accelerating the fulfillment of various
certification schemes such as the Indonesian
Sustainable Palm Oil (ISPO) and the Roundtable
on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO). The 23
indicators are divided into four pillars:
Environmental, Social, Economic,
and Governance.
