Introductory Message

Welcome to TVL – ICT (Animation)!

The Learning Activity Sheet is a product of the collaborative efforts of the


Schools Division of Iloilo and DepEd Regional Office VI - Western Visayas through
the Curriculum and Learning Management Division (CLMD). This is developed to
guide the learning facilitators (teachers, parents, and responsible adults) in helping
the learners meet the standards set by the K to 12 Basic Education Curriculum.

The Learning Activity Sheet is self-directed instructional materials aimed to


guide the learners in accomplishing activities at their own pace and time using the
contextualized resources in the community. This will also assist the learners in
acquiring the lifelong learning skills, knowledge and attitudes for productivity and
employment.

For learning facilitator:

The TVL - ICT (Animation) Activity Sheet will help you facilitate the
teaching-learning activities specified in each Most Essential Learning Competency
(MELC) with minimal or no face-to-face encounter between you and learner. This will
be made available to the learners with the references/links to ease the independent
learning.

For the learner:

The TVL - ICT (Animation) Activity Sheet is developed to help you continue
learning even if you are not in school. This learning material provides you with
meaningful and engaging activities for independent learning. Being an active learner,
carefully read and understand the instructions then perform the activities and answer
the assessments. This will be returned to your facilitator on the agreed schedule.

II. Background Information for Learners


Animation is a technique where objects and drawings are shown in
sequence to create the illusion of movement. It can be created in many forms
including the hand drawn, cut outs or computer drawn using computer
software and equipment.
Over 35, 000 years ago, this technique was depicted through cave
paintings of animals to convey the illusion of movements. From the early
inventions and up to now many new technologies were developed to create
animated films and multimedia. Nowadays, animation is widely used in
different areas. As the demand for multimedia animation increases the
number of available jobs and students who wants to learn the animation also
increases.
The animator is a person who creates or is involved in the process of
creating an animated film. To become a good animator, you must master the
art of drawing, observe the soft skills and hard skills of the successful
animators, you should be versatile enough to make various kinds of
animation, create your own style and branding, deepen your knowledge, and
sharpen your skills through proper trainings, build your portfolio and widen
your network. Below are the eleven famous successful animators in the global
industry who joined a few of the world’s largest films.

and Joseph to name a few. He has worked
at Fil-cartoons for Hanna-Barbera, Martian
Graphix, and atomic cartoons.
He was the Walt Disney’s story artist, and
she became part of films such as Zootopia,
Josie Trinidad
Wreck-it Ralph, Tangled, and The Princess
and The Frog.
He has shown his skills in the films Frozen,
Bobby Pontillas Big Hero 6, Wreck-it Ralph, Rio, Ice Age 4,
and Zootopia
She was among those behind the movie The
Virginia “Gini” Cruz- Incredibles. She studied Fine Arts, Major in
Santos Advertising, at UST before she became part
of Pixar.
He is a story artist, designer and he was part
Ronnie del Carmen- of Inside Out, Wall-e, Finding Nemo, The
Road to El Dorado, and The Prince of Egypt.
He was one of those behind countless
television series that include The Walking
Anthony Ocampo- Dead. He made the Trojan horse work on
the USA network productions special, Helen
of Troy, which brought him an award from the
Visual Effects Society.

● Production Manager – defines and coordinates the production of the


multimedia project
● Content Specialist- responsible for performing all necessary research with
regard to content
● Script writer- generates the dialog needed for each scene as to how it should
be
● Text editor- ensures that all text must be structurally and grammatically
correct including the documentation part
● Computer graphic artists- responsible for the graphic elements of the
program

● Animator- responsible for integrating all the multimedia building blocks

● Programmer- responsible for the programming of scripts in the authoring

● In-between artist-creates the transition images for the character’s movement
between two key frames
● Character rigger-manipulates the geometry of the character as it moves or
interacts within the scene
● Render-wrangler-monitors and controls the rendering process with either one
or few rendering computers up to hundreds of computers as in a
rendering farm
● Stop motion animator-uses different modeling media like puppets or clay to
produce animated films
● Background painter-responsible for creating background

● Lighting technician-creates light rigs for shots and is responsible for


ensuring the correct lighting and shadow effects in the animated film
● Color key artist-develops the color scheme for the backgrounds used in the

● Storyboard artist-responsible for drawing the scenes that will be used in the

Prepare Hand Tools and Equipment in Animation


The preparation of the hand tools, materials and equipment depends
on the task to be performed. Before you start with your task, you must prepare
it all to save your time and effort. The following are the common tools,
equipment, and materials used in traditional animation.
