Appendix 1 Scope of Work

Part 1 A Quantitative Assessment of WEEE

1. Quantifying
The quantitative assessment will be carried out using stratified sampling on basis on
income group, and household size, as WEEE may vary according to these strata’s across
8 governatte. The income group will be classified into three groups and household size
into two groups (below six and above six, as national) average of household size is above
5). Based on these strata’s six stratum will be created. Each stratum will have sample
size of at least 384 households, as sample size above 384 becomes independent of
population. Further, it will be ensured that we have at least 30-sample size for each of six
stratums across each governorates to preserve the characteristics of large sample size.

Part 2: WEEE Composition Analysis

Dismantling WEEE and characterizing the resultant components
During this stage of the project, WEEE will be dismantled, and the components that
are produced will be characterized. The process will entail building a thorough supervised
disassembly in accordance with WEEE dismantling requirements and identifying viable
recycling streams for recovered components (such as precious metals) and their value
for use. SOPs and other health and safety regulations designed for WEEE disassembly
(EU 2006 and 2018) will be meticulously implemented.
