Rosemount CMS: TGE Replacement Service Manual

Step 2 - Remove TGE

Note! This procedure will trigger alarms.

1. In the Service window, select TankSetup and then TGE Replacement... button and
log in.

2. Press the Remove TGE button.


3. Select the tank from which you are removing the TGE. The Unit ID’s of the selected
TGE will be displayed. Press the Next button.

4. Press the Set Offline button. The TGE Status will change to No Service.

Note! If the selected TGE is already set offline, the Unit ID will be displayed as “0”.

5. Press OK to continue.

6. Disconnect the deck cable in the SCU for the TGE you are replacing.

Note! If your system also is equipped with an independent High Level or Overfill TankRa-
dar STaR system then you must disconnect the deck cables for the TGE in those
systems as well.

7. Remove the TGU cover and loosen the clamps.

Note! Make sure that no water enters the Gauge housing during the replacement.

8. Disconnect the wires from the wire terminal.

Note! If the wires to the wire terminal have not previously been tagged, tag them before
removing them.

9. Remove the wire terminal from the holder or unstrap the TGE (TGU58) .

10. Loosen the TGE nut.

11. Lift the TGE straight up.

Note! Do not try to open the TGE. The entire TGE is to be replaced.

12. Press the Exit button to finish the TGE Remove procedure.

Step 3 - Add TGE

Note! This procedure will trigger alarms.

1. In the Service window, press the TankSetup and then the TGE Replacement... button
and log in.

2. Press the Add TGE button.


3. Select the tank for which you are adding the TGE.

4. Enter Unit ID’s for the new TGE that you are mounting. Unit ID’s are found at the top of
the TGE or on the side of the TGE (TGU58). Press the Next button.

5. Fit the TGE in place. Make sure that the pin on the TGE fits into the groove on the
antenna feeder. If mounting TGU58 then make sure that the pin on the antenna feeder
fits into the larger groove on the TGE.

Note! Make sure that no water gets into the Gauge housing during the replacement.

6. Tighten the TGE nut.

7. Fasten the wire terminal to the holder and connect the new TGE. TGE replacement with SCD Service CMS ed 01.fm

Note! Make sure the interior of the Gauge housing is completely dry and clean before you
fasten the Cover. Encased water or damp can cause corrosion on the wire terminal
and wire leads causing contact fault. Wipe with a clean and dry cloth if necessary.

8. Fit the cover and tighten the clamps.

Note! Change the o-ring if necessary and make sure that the o-ring is in place under the
cover.

9. Connect the deck cables to the SCU.

10. Check the checkbox New TGE mounted and select the Set Online button.

After a few minutes the TGE Status will change.

11. A dialogue window will be displayed on the status of the procedure. Press OK to con-
tinue.

12. Verify that the TGE Status is OK. If status not OK, contact a service agent at Rose-
mount Tank Radar AB. Press Exit to finish the Add TGE procedure.

Note! It is recommended to backup the database after the TGE Replacement procedure.
See “Backup the Database” on page 89.
