JOB DESCRIPTION

NEWTON DEE CAMPHILL COMMUNITY

Job Title: Newton Dee Bank Staff


Main Purpose of Job: to support residents and co-workers in house communities to provide
a nice home environment and support meaningful activities in and around the house and
within the village as well as going out into the community. To provide holiday cover in
houses.

Role Summary: Bank staff will . . .

 Carry out tasks in the houses such as cooking, cleaning and caring for residents and
the home environment.
 Delegate operational tasks appropriately and provide direct supervision to house
workers including the thorough and conscientious induction of new Work Team
members as appropriate.
 Ensure the all of the needs of Villagers and Day Placements are met and that they
are engaged in appropriate work activities according to their abilities.
 Protect and promote the welfare and well-being of adults with learning disabilities in
your care at all times.
 Ensure that each house represents Newton Dee’s ethos and values.
 Ensure that each house is at all times an attractive, welcoming, safe space for
Newton Dee residents.

Main Responsibilities: Bank staff will . . .

 Adhere at all times to Newton Dee policies and procedures, with particular attention
paid to policies and procedures for Adult Protection and Health and Safety.
 Attend and participate in any Training Courses as required by Newton Dee.
 Liaise on a regular basis with their supervisor from HR group and line managers in
the various houses.

Bank staff . . .

 Reports to House Co-ordinators and Workshop-Co-ordinators.


 Is responsible to work with and communicate with all residents, employees and co-
workers in each area.
JOB SPECIFIC ATIONS

 Hours: flexible working from Monday to Sunday inclusive. Working days as agreed
with the HR supervisor or their replacement.
 Pay: £11.87 per hour
 Holiday entitlement: will be paid quarterly according to actual hours worked
 Place of Work: Newton Dee Village, Bieldside.
 Reporting to: Ulrike Mall & Mar Pennarubia (HR supervisor) and individual house or
workshop co-ordinators

The successful applicant is required to join the PVG Scheme and undergo a PVG update
check.

PERSON SPECIFICATIONS
Essential Qualities

 At least some experience of work with adults with learning disabilities in a service
setting.
 Camphill community work experience.
 Empathetic ability to interact and work with people with learning disabilities.
 An evident understanding and support for Newton Dee’s ethos and values.
 A warm, friendly, personable manner.
 Good communication skills, people skills and sound practical skills relating to home
making and cooking
 Highly organised and flexible enough to adapt.
Desirable Qualities

 Relevant vocational and academic qualifications.


 Experience running a household with several people.
