OBSESSION
INT. INSIDE SAINSBURY’s – (DAY) – ESTABLISHING SHOT
We see a view of the modern storefront of a chain supermarket, laced
with an rustic, aging upper level sat on a busy street. The weather
is bare and dull, with only a single fleck of sunlight peeking
through the mundane clouds. The shop’s outside presents dull and
emotionless colours, displaying traces of dark red and orange with
dusty lettering sprawled in the centre.
CHARACTER is a 16-year-old introverted, closed-of girl whom enjoys
her solitude - she is often independent with an anxious personality.
She begins speaking on her phone with her mother.
CHARACTER
Hi! (pause) Yeah, just arriving now… do you need anything?
The CAMERA shows a MEDIUM TRACKING shot of CHARACTER’S side view
strolling through the aisle towards the back of the shop.
CHARACTER
(yawning) Okay, okay. I’ll be home soon. Call you when I’m on
aaaaaai way back. Yeah. Okay. Bye.
She hangs up and places her phone in her back pocket.
The CHARACTER bends to reach a carton of milk and the CAMERA pans to
a close up of her hand reaching. She is almost solo in the shop,
with only a few other people in sight. The chill settled on the
carton sends a shiver down her spine, leaving her with a subtle hand
tremble.
The CAMERA pans to a MEDIUM/ OVER THE SHOULDER shot peeking out from
behind an adjacent aisle as CHARACTER looks over her shoulder
apprehensively.
CHARACTER continues pacing down the aisle towards the checkout
normally and the CAMERA switches to a MEDIUM ZOOMING SHOT of the
girl walking casually through the store, captured by a convex mirror
located securely on the wall above the far aisle.
We see CHARACTER through an OVER SHOULDER SHOT of STALKER as she
checks out and places her shopping in a bag to the right.
The CAMERA shows a LONG SHOT of her walking out of the shop briskly,
then moves to a side view MEDIUM TRACKING SHOT as she places her
headphones over her ears. Eerie, slightly calming music begins
playing quietly.
The surrounding setting is isolated and bare as she walks down the
road, through a side road leading to the train station – with only
houses sat behind her. She maintains a clueless emotion as she
strolls down the road, like usual.

The CAMERA then pans to a behind, slightly shaky MEDIUM SHOT
situated behind a bush. CHARACTER looks behind whilst lifting a
headphone off her ear, darting her eyes with slight panic, then
turns back around and returns walking.

EXT. TRAIN STATION – (DAY)

As she arrives at the train station, the CAMERA settles at a LOW
ANGLE SHOT, watching her step on the train. It then shows a MEDIUM
SHOT displaying the view of CHARACTER looking out of the window
through the view of an opposite, behind seat. She looks around her,
with the cautious feeling of being watched.
The CAMERA switches to a LONG SHOT of the girl stood waiting for her
train. She stands stationary, visibly uncomfortable, with darting
eyes scanning the items around her.
CHARACTER pulls her phone out of her pocket and starts scrolling. As
she opens the camera app, she notices a chilling-looking figure
situated parallel to her on the opposing platform. He is a tall,
darkly dressed man, intensely staring in her faint direction. The
CAMERA captures this through CHARACTERS phone screen.
The CAMERA then pans up to display nobody standing in that
direction.
As CHARACTER looks back at her phone, she begins breathing heavily
in confusion, believing she is perhaps imagining things. She has a
confused look of trepidation painted across her face. As she stares
back at her phone camera, there is still nothing.
The girl places her phone down and the STALKER is stood there.
The CAMERA pans to a CLOSE UP SHOT of a gloved hand tapping on the
girls shoulder.
She swiftly turns around and the CAMERA switches to an ARC SHOT of
the CHARACTER turning around, scanning the area for the alleged
STALKER.
The CAMERA turns to a LONG SHOT of the two stood facing each other,
holding eye contact as a train begins to pass. As the train leaves,
the two are gone and the platform is left empty and bare.
