LEARNING OBJECTIVES
At the end of this unit the students should:
1. identify the basic movement skills in Philippine
traditional games
2. demonstrates the basic movement skills of
Philippine traditional games
3. evaluates the basic skills to daily activities
through playing Philippine traditional games
FUNDAMENTAL MOVEMENT SKILLS
PROVIDE THE BASIS OF PHYSICAL
LITERACY
1. FUNDAMENTAL MOVEMENT SKILLS
Are movement patterns that involve various
body parts and provide the basis of physical
literacy

Foundational movements, or precursor patterns,


to the more specialized and complex skills used
in play, games, and specific sports.
2. BODY MANAGEMENT SKILLS
Usually large muscle activities required for controlling
the body in various situations

These skills require an integration of agility,


coordination, balance, and flexibility

This includes balancing the body in stillness and in


motion.
3. LOCOMOTOR SKILLS
Involve transporting the body in any direction
from one point to another. Examples are
crawling, walking, and running, hopping, leaping,
jumping, galloping, skipping, and swimming.
4. OBJECT CONTROL SKILLS
Require controlling implements and objects such as
balls, hoops, bats, and ribbons by hand, by foot or
with any other part of the body. Examples are
throwing, catching, kicking, striking, bouncing, and
dribbling.

1. Physical Health
Recreational activities, especially outdoor,
improve one’s health like maintaining lower
body fat percentages, lowering blood and
cholesterol levels, increasing muscular strength,
flexibility, muscular endurance, body
composition and cardiovascular endurance

Recreational activities help manage stress. It
provides a chance to nurture oneself and
provides a sense of balance and self-esteem,
which can directly reduce anxiety and
depression
3. Improved Quality of Life
Recreational activities help create a balance
between academic pressures with physical
and mental wellbeing
