A. Introduction

Short Message Service or SMS is one of the most reliable

ways for us Filipinos to communicate with one another. The

Philippines has so earned the moniker "texting capital of the

world" due to the vast amount of text messages (or SMS) that are

sent and received there every day. However, due to a brand-new

attack, SMS attacks have been dominating the news. Nowadays,

scammers today are aware of personal information about the owner

of the phone number they are attempting to target.

Smishing, often known as SMS phishing, is a phishing

cybersecurity attack carried out over mobile text messages.

Unknown links are what will take you to a dubious website, which

will subsequently steal your information. These online criminals

want to take your personal information so they can use it to

conduct fraud or other crimes. In addition, according to a study

conducted by Alkhalil et al in 2019, each person has a distinct

vulnerability to phishing and spamming depending on their traits

and level of awareness and hackers often prey on people who lack

digital cyber ethics.

Our mission is to spread the word about SMS's dangers.

People will be more knowledgeable about the smishing strategies

used by cybercriminals. The goal of this campaign is to safeguard

and educate those who don't know anything about smishing. The

initiative will undoubtedly benefit a large number of people.

A. Purpose

This campaign's objective is to protect and inform those

who are unaware of smishing. We can help promote awareness of

SMS's risks by running this campaign. There will be greater

public awareness of the smishing strategies employed by

cybercriminals.

B. Description

The best way to assist and safeguard individuals from

scams is to raise awareness about smishing. Especially now that

cybercriminals are modifying and improving their scamming

tactics. Moreover, people are relying increasingly on internet

banking and social media for their finances. As a result, because

of people's reliance on mobile phones, they are in danger of losing

a lot.

That is why raising awareness of smishing is one of our

main priorities. We'll share information on smishing on our

Facebook page. We will explain the term "smishing," provide

situations, and discuss where and how to prevent it. Hotlines and

websites where they may report scammers will also be included.

Additionally, we have the option of holding seminars to inform and

inform the public. And last, because we are living in the Internet

Age, it is critical to address this issue.

We want to communicate with each other on our smart

phones without compromising our safety. The campaign will be

launched on Facebook, the Facebook page will be named “Let’s

Fight Smishing!” Undoubtedly, this campaign will raise awareness

and protect a lot of people from the dangers of smishing.

D. Reflection

Let’s Fight Smishing is an anti-phishing campaign. It was

designed to raise awareness of and educate the public about the

risks associated with smishing. Smishing is a type of phishing

cyberattack that uses text messages sent to mobile devices. This

campaign taught me to be more cautious in smishing. As an

Empowerment Technology student, I am aware of the harm that

smishing and phishing in general can do to our online security.

Which is why I began this effort, in order for others to understand

and become aware of the risks associated.

It also helped me to realize how vulnerable people are to

threats from cyberspace. This merely demonstrates the necessity

of such a campaign. This initiative gave me a greater sense of

obligation to spread knowledge and awareness. Lastly, it will be a

pleasure to serve and raise awareness of the risks associated with

smishing.
