Objective:
Executive presentation of a case where the problems presented are identified
and solution proposals are made.

Procedure:
1. I pre-read the module 3 topics and evidence requirements.
2. I searched reliable sources for extra information to get a bigger picture
and a better understanding.
3. I made a report with all the requested points.
4. I ended with a conclusion.

Results:
As a team, they must conduct research on the Lehman Brother case and
apply the methodology of management consulting or auditing. They
should deliver an executive report with the results of the chosen
methodology (including all the steps of the same), and a presentation with
the results of the evaluation as if it were to be presented to the client.
Report

Lehman Brother case

On September 15, 2008, Lehman Brothers filed for bankruptcy following the
exodus of most of its customers, drastic losses in the stock market and the
devaluation of its assets by the major rating agencies.
These phenomena were mainly caused by Lehman's involvement in the
subprime mortgage crisis, taking excessive risks. Subsequently, there were
allegations of negligence that even went as far as criminal charges.
The bankruptcy of Lehman Brothers is the largest bankruptcy in U.S. history
and is strongly associated with the global financial crisis of 2008. In addition, the
Lehman bankruptcy gave impetus to the too big to fail doctrine. On September
16, Barclays announced an agreement to acquire the investment banking and
trading divisions of Lehman Brothers in addition to its New York headquarters.
On September 20, the deal was reviewed and approved by U.S. Bankruptcy
Judge James M. Peck. A week later, Nomura Holdings announced its intention
to acquire Lehman Brothers' franchises in the Asia-Pacific region, including
divisions in Japan, Hong Kong and Australia, and investment banking and
wealth business divisions in Europe and the Middle East.
The methodology to be used will be that of Management Consulting.
When starting the process and following the management consulting
methodology, the consultant already has some information about the company,
has already met the client and knows why the consulting is being applied. For
this it is important to determine the process or steps to be followed during the
management consulting. We will be analyzing the method according to Milan
Kubr.
The most feasible solution would be to negotiate with the financial institutions
with which the company had agreements so that they would not withdraw their
support and to put together a strategic plan before the company went bankrupt.
Or the second option is to identify how we can use the company's resources to
our advantage and thus raise it little by little.
Preparations:
Report

I will meet with the company's management to get to know the situation in depth
and see what their areas of opportunity are and listen to what they want and
begin to devise the possibilities for the business to get back on its feet.
Diagnostics:
I will meet with the personnel of the key departments where the problem is
located and start the in-depth research with which the objectives will be defined
and based on this create the strategies to be implemented.
Action planning:
At this stage, the solution proposals begin, which are the following: negotiate
with the financial institutions with which the company had an agreement so that

the company goes bankrupt. Or the second option is to identify how we can use
the company's resources to our advantage and thus raise it little by little.
Application:
Here we begin to contact the institutions to start the negotiation process and
also apply the resource analysis to see what can help us and begin to
implement them.
Termination:
Finally, the results of the strategies implemented are analyzed to verify if they
were successful.
Tests to be performed:
Total examination of the structure and behavior of a social organism: In the
second current, the evaluation or examination is not only limited to the study of
the control structure, but also studies the efficiency of the use of the
organization's resources and the effectiveness of its performance in any of its
functions. In this way the company is also covered as a social organism.
