ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

I would like to express my special thanks of gratitude to my

teacher Mr. Sivaji Sahu who gave me the golden opportunity
to do this wonderful project on the topic “To study the earth’s
magnetic field using compass needle and bar magnet by
plotting magnetic field lines” which also helped me during lot
of research and I came to know about so many new things, I
am really thankful to him . Secondly, I would also like to thank
my parent’s and friends who helped me lot in finalizing tis
project within the limited time frame.
AIM OF THE EXPERIMENT

The aim of the project is to study the Earth’s magnetic field

and finds its value (BH) using a tangent galvanometer.

Tangent galvanometer
APPLICATIONS

 T.G can be used to measure the magnitude of the

horizontal component of then geomagnetic field.

 The principle can be used to measure the galvanometer

constants.

 For calibration of secondary instruments.

Apparatus and materials required

o Tangent Galvanometer(TG),

o Commutator(C),

o Rheostat(R),

o Battery(E),

o Ammeter(A),
