Vishavjot Singh

Hello everyone, I Vishavjot Singh, assisting Gursimar and Sukhjeet in group 4, today I am here
to talk about “How the Online Learning is affecting education these days? I will be talking about
the pros and cons of E-learning. Let me make you all familiar with my background “I am from
Punjab, India”, “I am interested in sports as I was a state level player of volleyball and basketball
and a national level player of hammer throw in athletics”. I am the organiser of scheduling
meeting in this group for better communications and co-ordination.

Getting back to topic …

As we all have passed from the difficult times and conditions created during the pandemic. But
not only worse situations were a part, but many new kinds of better opportunities also came to us
during that time and keep arising after that like some business got a huge hike due to the impact
of pandemic. Not going to that side too far. As students we have also suffered a lot of difficulties
to adapt new era of “studying online” this fast in our life. This leads to several consequences
both in positive and negative ones.

Primarily, flexibility of time is the thing which affects most of students with a university level of
study in the right way. This makes student easier to attend lectures which are posted online and
get office hours privately with their teachers. As experienced online, I was late to attend class
online and some of the topic left behind but due to the posted content online I was able to get to
the topic soon before the next class.

“Studying online has obvious practical advantages for those who are time poor,
who are juggling work, personal lives, and study online learning gives student
greater flexibility to choose when where and how they study.”

— David Seignior, Learning Designer at the University of Melbourne.

Secondly, distance barriers are left behind after covid-19 struck. Now even a student sitting at
another coastline can willingly pursue his study of his interest without being travelling a long
distance. As a paradigm, if a student is living in Europe and has to get enrolled in a program of
Harvard University, he can go directly without the hesitation of traveling a long distance.

This transformation also gives us some bad factors like: - Not having physical experience of
socializing in a community with respect to sitting and talking behaviours which a student can
easily learn class class, various distractions like notifications always coming upfront of screen, a
person must have self-discipline to get knowledge at best, etc. But all these have solutions in
upcoming future.

Sukhjeet Singh Jandu

Hi, everyone, My name is Sukhjeet Singh, from Punjab India, I have done my 12th from Sacred
Heart School, Punjab. I have a little interest in manufacturing of different types of agricultural
machinery. My biggest area of interest lies in opening new Internships.

Online education has become accessible and is gaining immerse popularity during the covid 19
pandemic. During the covid 19 pandemic the in-person education was totally transformed into
the online education and many difficulties were faced by the teachers and the students, but within
the short spam of time everyone became familiar to an online education. When, I moved to
Canada, the system of online education was totally different and, in the beginning, I faced many
problems as it was difficult for me to get familiar with different software’s like blackboard,
eclipse, outlook and many more. The way of teaching was totally different as professors present
the PowerPoint slides which help the students to get the image of the topic in their mind and to
grab the topic quickly. Students get the opportunities to make presentations and present in front
of the class and there are many assignments to be done by the specific time which help to get
good grades and help the students to study on daily basis and not to create chaos at the end of
semester. The way of taking exams and quizzes was totally different experience for me as
everything was online and different software was used to give exam and quizzes. I learned many
new things faced many difficulties in the beginning at one point I decided to give up, but the
support of my fellow classmates and professors which are always available to help their students
helped me to conquer this situation and at end I want to say this totally a new and exciting
experience for me.

“When I wanted to learn something outside of school as a kid, cracking open my

World Book encyclopedia was the best I could do. Today, all you have to do is go
online.”
— Bill Gates (Gates, n.d.).

In future, online education is going to play an important role and students coming in future
should take it easy as it is going to be very exciting experience for them. If they face any
problems they can take the help of IT services, student services available at every institution.
Moreover, they can take help from their fellow classmates or professors. They can buy the
eBooks and can use the library to clear their topics. They should focus on the assignments and
presentations as these things would help them to perform better in their academics and at end,
I want to say this that they should enjoy and move on with the flow and experience every
new thing.
GURSIMAR KAUR

completed my senior secondary education there. now i am pursuing my further studies in

How online learning affect students socially?

As we all know during pandemic, we all were using new method of learning which is online
learning. As in physical classes students interact with their friends, teachers, and other workers
as well as they also indulge in various extracurricular activities on their school campus which
helps in their mental and physical development but in online learning it is not possible.
During covid-19, students were able to spend more time with their families which helps them to
strengthen their relationship with their families but not with their friends. In addition to it, as they
become more familiar to use technology they have some social applications like Facebook,
Instagram, twitter and many more. Moreover, in this modern world everyone is using social
media. To cite an example, people have their own channels on different social media platforms
they upload videos either related to business, education or many other purposes and earn money.

“Social media is not a media. The key is to listen, engage, and build relationships.”
- David Alston (Blogger, n.d.)

Furthermore, students also use these applications to connect with their friends and to make new
friends. But it has both positive and negative impacts on their life because on these types of
applications many people have fake accounts which are used by them to take benefits. So, many
students make them friends which has adverse impact on their life. Additionally, many scholars
overuse the social which results in less focus on studies and lower the performance as well as
grades but if scholar use it wisely then it has also positive impacts for example, students can use
social media to relax themselves, can meet with their friends online, get more information what
is happening in their surroundings, they do not feel isolated and many others.
At last, I want to deliver a message to classmate and future students that they should use social
media in limit so that they can focus on their studies and perform well in their academics to get
good grades. Also, be preprepared to tackle with the situations like COVID-19 that we have
faced in 2022.
