ALL KIND OF TENSES WITH DEFINITION AND EXAMPLE

1. Simple present tense. Tense for explaining general fact or habit of everyday

Formula :

Nominal verbal

Subject + is/am/are + adverb {+} subject + v1 + s/es(he,she,it) + adverb

Example ; {-} subject + do/does+not+v1+adverb

- I am a midwife {?} do/does+subject+verb1+adverb


- You are my iron man example ;
- She is lazy I play smartphone everyday
He does’nt come to me
Do we play game ?

2. Simple present continuos . that is tense for explaining what happening right now.

Formula :
Nominal verbal
Subject +is/am/are+being subject+is/am/are+verb ing
Example : she is being kind to me example ; we are studying english righ tnow

3. Present perfect tense for explaining incident that just done


Formula :

Nominal verbal

I/we/they/you + have been + past participle I/we/you/they/+have+past participle

He/she/it + has been + past participle he/she/it +has+past participle

Example; example;I have been very busy lately


he has done his work

She hasn’t late for five second they have not gone to Kebun Cengkeh

4. Present perfect countinuos tense. That is tense for explaining the past incident but still contiuos
Formula:
Verbal nominal
I/we/you/they +have+been+verb+ing I/we/you/they+have+been+being
He/she/it+ has+been+verb+ing he/she/it+has+been+being
Example : example :
I have been loving for 2 years she has been being very busy since last week
She hasn’t been waiting here for hours
5. Simple past tense. That is tense for explaining the incident from old and not to continuos.
Formula:
Verbal Nominal
Subjet + verb we/you/they+were
Example : I/she/he/it + was
I went to MCM yesterday example:
She did not eat this morning I was afraid of them last time
You were busy

6. Past continuos tense. Tense for explaining what happening at past.


Formula :
Verbal nominal
we/you/they+were+verb ing we/you/they/+were+being
I/He/she/it+was+verb ing I/he/she/it+was+being
Example : example:
I were reading book yesterday he is being polite to me
He was playing smartphone this morning

7. Past perfect tense. For equivalent present perfect tense in past.


Formula :
Verbal nominal
Subject+had+past participle subject+had+been
Example: example:
You had written a latter he had been very mad with me
She had cooked the dinner

8. Past perfect continuos tense. That is tense for explaining the incident that still continuos at past.
Formula :
Verbal nominal
Subject + had+been+verb ing subject+had+been+being
Example: example :
We had been living in Ambon for five years he had been very busy last week

9. Simple furute tense. That is tense for explaining the incident will be done at future
Formula:
Verbal nominal
Subject+WILL/SHALL+infinitive subject+will/shall+be
Example: example:
I shall go home after this I shall be lazy tomorrow
They will play tennis tomorrow she will be a midwife
10. Future continuos tense. That is tense for explaining the incident will happen and still continuos.
Formula:
Verbal nominal
i/you/we/they+shall/wil+be+verb ing subject+be+being
he/she/it+will+be+verb ing example:

You will be living me tomorrow

11. Future perfect tense. For explaining the incident will be finish at future.

Formula:
Verbal nominal
Subject+shall+will+have subject+shall/will+have+been
Example: example:
He will have played chess they will have been in Ambon next week
I shall have done my homework

12. Future perfect continuos tense that is tense for explaining how long an activity at future before
another activity happen.
Formula:
Verbal
Subject+shall/will+have+been+verb ing
Example:
I shall have been living here for five years by the time of this month

Nominal
Subject+shall/will+have+been+being
Exsmple:
She will have been studying for five an hour before the teacher comes

13. Past future tense. For explaining the incident will happen but at past
Formula:

Verbal
Subject+should/would+infinitive
Subject+was/wre+going to +infinitive
Example:
I sould finish my tasks
We were going to visit Dufan
Nominal
Subject+should/would+be. Example : I should be busy

Subject+was/were+going to+be. Example : you wre going to be late


14. Past future continuos tense. That is tense for explaining the incident that will continuos in past.

Formula :
verbal
Subject+shoud/would+be+verb ing
Example:
I should be working very hard

Nominal
Subject +should/would+be+being
Example:
He said that he will would be liviny in Ambon on Monday

15. Past future perfect tense that is tense for explaining the incident will have done at past.

Formula :
Verbal
Subject+should/would+have+past participle
Example:
I should have gone,if you had called me

Nominal
Subject+should/would+have+been
Example:
I should have been here, if you had arrived

16. Past future perfect continuos tense that is tense for explaining the incident that will have done
continuos.
Formula:

example;
I should have been working in the office

Subject+shoul/would+have+been+being
Example;
I should have been being here
HOW TO USE PASSIVE VOICE

Passive voice is how to express the passive sentence.


For example there is active sentence like this “ Astitin takes my phone” . so the passive sentence
is my phone is taken by Astitin.

There are 10 tenses in passive voice that are :

1. Simple present
S+is,am,are+v3 by agent

2. Present countinous
S+is,am,are+being+v3+ by agent

3. Present perfect
S+have/has+been+v3+by agent

4. Simple past
S+wa/were+v3+by agent

5. Past continuos
