Quarter 3, LAS 4.2:
PowerPoint Presentation
Borrowed materials (i.e., songs, stories, poems, pictures, photos, brand names, trademarks, etc.)
included in this book are owned by their respective copyright holders. Every effort has been exerted to
locate and seek permission to use these materials from their respective copyright owners. The
publisher and authors do not represent nor claim ownership over them.
In this activity, we will learn one of the most powerful and commonly used features of Microsoft
called “PowerPoint”. To create an effective presentation, one should consider the following: (1)
minimize the content to maintain a clear message, (2) avoid being fancy by using fonts that are easy to
read, (3) keep things simple through the use of bullets or short sentences, (4) use visuals like charts
and graphs but avoid using ones that distract the audience, (5) be consistent by having unform font
styles, and (6) be mindful of the contrast.
You may also use hyperlinks to create links to an existing file or web page, a place in the
document or to send email to a specified recipient. Also, embedding object allows you to insert files
inside your presentation.
There are plenty of tools you can use to present data. Designing your presentation is the fun
part of preparing the report, for it gives you a chance to be creative. Placing animation, transition, and
art could be on your mind right now. But whether or not these features would help is generally up to
you. Sometimes, these things could actually distract your audience rather than help you. But here are
some quick tips in creating an effective presentation: (1) minimization, (2) clarity, (3) simplicity, (4)
visuals, (5) consistency, and (6) contrast.
