ABSTRACT
The purpose of this report is to provide the details of the Timsale company, description of all
activities undertaken during attachment period, the lessons learnt and challenges faced during the
attachment period. The attachment period was of great advantage and getting through the day
today activities through the help of the very dedicated staff of the institution was quite an
experience.

As students my involvement in this attachment was to make sure that I acquire new knowledge
and practical skills, improving my confidence problem solving and utilize the opportunity to
relate with different categories of people likely to be met in real life situations This report gives
all the activities i undertook and the experience I gained, the practical acquired and the personal
input to the organization

 CHAPTER 1

This chapter explain the purpose of scope and limitations. It also gives an introduction onto
TIMSALES LIMITED COMPANY, including background, mission, vision and main business

1.1 INTRODUCTION
Industrial attachment was introduced to inspire the students with practical and technical skills as
a partial fulfillment for the award of a certificate to introduce the students into working life.

The training time allows the students to link the theoretical principles learnt in higher learning
institutions & the real life professional and technical application.

It gives the students the practical skills and to use their skill and principles learned in class to
serve the institutions and the society in general.

Due to the above reasons MOLO TVC has organized 12 weeks of training in any institution and
student an opportunity to apply the skill and knowledge achieved during the course of study and
to acquire new skill in managing relationship & carrying out the jobs assigned.

This is the reason why l joined Timsales Company to be trained in order to get the practical
skills.

1.2 PURPOSE
The industrial attachment program fulfills part of the requirement for the award of certificate of
Electrical Engineering in Molo technical and Vocational College. The report therefore, provides
a summary of the activities and duties carried out, as well as experience gained during my
attachment period.

1.2 SCOPE AND LIMITATIONS

During the attachment period, the student was involved in various activities such as; domestic
house wiring single phase light, wiring of sockets etc. This report will only cover the parts of the
project and activities done by the student to achieve the objectives of the attachment.

Electrical Engineering has a wide career opportunity in sectors like Electronics, power co-
operation, Aviation power supply etc.

2.1 PROJECT BACKGROUND
Timbales company has a lot of facilities such as Electrical and Electronics, excavation, ICT and
others. Student faced some challenges like food were too expensive. It was hard for them to
travel and buy food. Timsales Company has a beautiful view. This building is located at
Elburgon just a few minutes from Elburgon town.

2.2 PERIOD OF ATTACHMENT

According to Molo Technical and Vocation College an attachment period must be at least of 12
weeks which is equivalent to 3 months period where a student gets skills both practical and
theory. Attachment is of great advantage to students where one is fed with knowledge and skills.

The 3 months period of attachment helped me a lot to acquire new skills that were not taught by
lecturers in school. It helped me gain confidence in problem solving and also helped in
actualization of putting what student learn in the course work.

2.3 OBJECTIVES
The following are some of the objectives in the attachment:

 Gain interpersonal skills

 Acquire practical skills
 Apply knowledge learned
 Strengthen work values
 Prepare operational plans

2.4 KEY RESPONSILITIES

Among the responsibilities include; performing installation and upgrades, wiring, V.F.D and
programming, Electrical power modules etc. I was also involved in maintenance of electronic
component and designing of electrical components.

3.1 TRAINING, RESEARCH AND IMPLEMENTATION
Attachment enhances cross-training which allows students to experience and practice different
work-related skills. Due to attachment training am well-structured and coordinated. We did
various analysis and researched on various things where I gained knowledge, skills and values
from direct experience.

3.2 MAJOR ACTIVITIES INVOVED

Some of the activities I was involved in include:

 Domestic house wiring single ring mains 13AMP

 Checking direct on-line starters and control 415 volts
 Checking auto star delta starters control and power wiring.
 Servicing motors and greasing bearing together with limit switches
 V.F.D and programming
 Electronics power modules

3.3 KEY ACHEVEMENTS

I achieved many things during the attachment period. I am able to do wiring; checking auto star
delta starters control and power wiring which I was unable to Do before.

3.3 LESSONS LEARNT/SKILLS ACQUIRED

 Fixing of showers
 Rewinding of motors
 Power wiring
 Changing of cooker coils
 Replacing L.E.D light
 Installation of CCTV(s)

3.4 CHALLENGES FACED DURING THE ATTACHMENT
 Time keeping and management was not well catered for which sometimes resulted to
idleness.
 Tough supervisors
 Food was too expensive

3.5 HOW I OVERCAME THE CHALLENGES

When I was idle, I was keeping myself busy by doing what I was taught individually

Food being too expensive I was able to carry food from home

Supervisors being tough I made sure I did not offend them by doing what were right and what I
was asked to do.

4.1 ATTACHMENT CONCLUSION
4.2 SUMMARY
The job scope and duties assigned focused primarily of installation and power wiring. The work
was highly relevant to the field of study in electrical engineering. During the period of
attachment, I gained knowledge through active participation and inquisitive learning. It was quite
an experience and of great advantage.

4.2 REFLECTION ON PRSONAL DEVELOPMENT DURING THE FIELD OF

ATTACHMENT
 I set up goals during my attachment to develop and improve in areas that l find needed to
be improved. The working areas I developed and improved in during my 12 weeks
attachment period include the following:
 Installation of CCTV(s)
 Wiring for both power and domestic house
 Fixing of shower
 Replacing LED light

4.3 CONCLUSION
Attachment period was of great advantage to me. It opened up the understanding; I gained more
knowledge and skills. More benefits gained are exploitation of research areas, career interest s
gained new skills gained work experience etc. if I work in Kenya power, Timsales company I
would good to go.

4.4 RECOMMENDATIONS
First I would like to congratulate the company for allowing me to be with them for period
of attachment

Second i would like to recommend that the company should have a big electrical
engineering workshop.

Third i would like to recommend that the company should have enough tools and
equipment so as to facilitate good working area

Fourth i would like to recommend that the company should come up with a new way of
preventing power losses.

Fiveth I would like to recommend that the company should provide enough lights to
prevent stroboscopic effect
