subjecting students of higher level institutions to industrial work, where,
through practical experiences, gain skills that would prepare them for
real life work situations in their approved course of study.
This technical report is based om the experience and knowledge gained
in the Student Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES) at Lincoln
College of Scirnce and Management Technology, a tetiary institution
which is just starting up its brach in Nigeria, know as an institution
which idealize and practicalize their teaching and helping people further
their education.

Chapter one
1.1 introduction
The student industrial work experience scheme (SIWES), also known as
Industrial Training is a compulsory Skills training program designed to
expose and prepare students of Universities, Polytechnics and various
higher institutes of learning, for real world work experiences.
The scheme provides students the opportunity to be independent and put
the skills they may have gotten from school to use as well as learn new
ones. Students are also exposed to new machines, technologies they
were no privy to in school.
Before the foundation of the scheme, there was a growing thought
among industrialists, that graduates of institutions of higher learning
having inadequate practical background studies preparatory for
employment in industries. Thus, employers were of the opinion that the
theoretical education in higher institutions wasn’t liable to the needs of
the employers of labor.
1.2 Importance of SIWES
SIWES is an effort to help students bridge the existing gap between
theory and practice and expose students to necessary skills for smooth
transition from the classroom to the world of work This will help the
students create and develop specific technical skills and experience for
professional development in their study to overcome the hurdles in the
academic curriculum and in the industry. It gives the students a feel of
how their work environment will be when they join the company.

1.3 Amis Objective of SIWES includes the following;

 To expose students to work methods and techniques in handling
equipment and machineries that may not be available in tertiary
institutions.
 Provides exposure of students to the environment in which they
may eventually work, thereby enabling them to see how the future
professions are organized in practice.
 It provides an avenue for students in Nigerian tertiary institutions
to acquire industrial skills and experience in their course of study.
 Enables students to bridge the gap between knowledge acquired in
school and the relevant production skills required in work
organizations
 Prepares students to contribute to the productivity of their
employers and national development immediately after graduation.
 To make the transition from the university to the labor market easy
for students, and thus enhance students contact for the later job
placement.
 To give room for social and academic interaction with
professionals in their field and working environment and also to
expose the reality of working places.

3.1 WEB DEVELOPMENT

Website development (web-dev) Is the process creating software
applications that runs on the world wide web(www). Web-dev consist of
two parts, the front-end and the back end. Therefore, front-end web-dev
is the practicing and use of programming languages like HTML, CSS
and JavaScript to produce web pages as of the web-dev.

A website is said to be related WebPages containing content such as

texts, images, videos, audios, etc. A website is hosted on at least one
web server, accessible via a network such as the internet or a private
LAN through an internet address known as a URL (Universal Resource
Locator). A publicly accessible websites collectively constitutes the
World Wide Web (WWW). A webpage is a document, typically written
in plain text interspersed with formatting instructions of hypertext nark
up language (HTML). A webpage may incorporate elements from other
websites with suitable anchors. WebPages are accessed and transported
with the hypertext transfer protocol (HTTP), which may occasionally
employ encryption (HTTP secure, HTTPS) to provide security and
privacy for the use of the webpage content. The user’s application often
a web browser renders the page content according to its HTML mark-up
instructions into a display terminal. (Web Development)

With advancement in programming front-end web development

doesn't require the traditional process of using HTML, CSS and
JavaScript like before, Frameworks are build with aids in faster web
design and produce elegant result and responsiveness in such a way that
web pages have cross platform support across all devices. Examples of
this libraries include Bootstrap, Foundation, Vue.js etc. As part of the
training Bootstrap was the preference.
3.1.1 TOOLS USED IN FULLSTACK WEB DEVELOPMENT
Front-end web development primarily requires tools which are
browser, text editors and graphic tools that were used to accomplish
task.

 Text editor: A text editor is program that allows you to open, view, and
edit plain text files. Unlike word processors, text editors do not add
formatting to text, instead focusing on editing functions for plain text.
web developers use text editors to write and edit in programming and
markup languages. Examples are sublime text, notepad++ and context.
(Wikipedia)
 Browser: is a program that is use to render web pages to a visual
presentation. Examples include chrome, Firefox, and safari (Rouse,
2017)
 MongoDB:

3.2.0 BOOTSTRAP
Bootstrap is a free front-end framework for faster and easier web
development, Bootstrap includes HTML and CSS based design
templates for typography, forms, buttons, tables, navigation, modals,
image carousels and many other, as well as optional JavaScript plugins,
Bootstrap also gives you the ability to easily create responsive designs.
