LESSON PLAN for CLASSROOM OBSERVATION in

Science 9

I. Objective
A. Content Standards The learners demonstrate understanding on how changes in the
environment may affect species extinction.
B. Performance Standards The learners are able to make a multimedia presentation of a timeline of
extinction of representative microorganisms, plants, and animals
C. Learning Competencies) Relate species extinction to the failure of populations of organisms to
adapt to abrupt changes in the environment.

Directions: Copy the letter that corresponds to the word or phrase that best
answers the question or complete the sentence.

c. Genes
d. Chromosomes
4. What happens to the phenotype of the heterozygotes when traits are
inherited in an incomplete dominance pattern?
a. A second phenotype results when traits are inherited in incomplete
dominance.
b. A second genotype results when traits are inherited in incomplete
dominance.
c. A third phenotype results when traits are inherited in incomplete

Video Presentation

Ask:
- What was the video presentation all about?
- What are the Local and Global environmental issues that are
affecting our community?
- What is the result of these environmental issues?
C. Presenting examples Picture Presentation
/instances of the new Directions: Identify the following pictures.
lessons
D. Discussing new concepts Discovery Learning
and practicing new skills #1. Use of Game “Keep in Mind!”
Free-discussion

In any ecosystem, organisms need a balanced environment.

A balanced ecosystem is one in which all living things are interacting
successfully, in an environment where even non-living things are
adequately present in order to sustain life.
If any part of the ecosystem is disturbed, other parts will also be
disturbed. What happens to a community when its species diversity is
reduced?

In the Philippines, some terrestrial species like the tamaraw in Mindoro,

mouse deer in Palawan, Philippine deer, Monkey-eating eagle, and
aquatic species like the dugong found in Negros, Batangas and in Leyte
are endangered of extinction.
E. Discussing new concepts Use of Game “Fill In”
& practicing new skills #2 Directions: The words in the box are some of the causes of species
extinction. Look at the pictures below and identify which cause of
extinction matches each group of pictures.
Use of Game “Let’s Match”
Directions: Match the concept in column A with its description in
column B.

F. Leads to Formative Differentiated Activities

Assessment 3) Group Activity

GROUP 1 TEAM ARTS

Directions: Draw a poster showing what you have learned from today’s
lesson.

GROUP 2 TEAM MUSIC

Directions: Compose a song showing what you have learned from
today’s lesson.

GROUP 3 TEAM LITERARY ARTS

Directions: Make a short poem showing what you have learned from
today’s lesson.

of organic nutrients in bodies of water. BLUFF
7. The trapping of heat by gases in the earth’s atmosphere is called ozone
layer. BLUFF
8. Overharvesting and coastal areas’ conversion to beach resources are
causes of destruction of coastal resources. FACT
