LESSON PLAN
in MATH 3
(September 11-14 Week 6)
Topic: Identifying Ordinal Numbers Through 100th
Content Standard:
The learners are expected to .....
 Reading and writing ordinal numbers 1st to 100th in a given set.
Performance Standard:
The learners should be able to……
 Arrange ordinal numbers from the 1st to the 100th in increasing and
decreasing order.
Learning Competencies:
The learners should be able to……
 Recognize and represent the concept of ordinal numbers 1st to 100th in various forms and contexts.
Learning Targets:
At the end of the lesson, the learners should be able to…
 Identify the pattern in naming ordinals from the 1st to the 100th,
emphasizing the 21st to the 100th.
 Recognize ordinals 1st to 100th, emphasizing the 21st to the 100th relative
position in a given set.
 Show cooperation in group activities.

Transfer Goals: Students on their own and in the long run will be able to:
 learn ordinal numbers because they can tell us the correct order or exact position of an object or
event.
STAGES ACTIVITIES
(Day 1)

EXPLORE MOTIVATION
 Show the picture and ask the learners the following questions:
●Where do you usually fall in line?
● Who gets served first in a line?
● Would you fall in line if it is long?

(Day 1)

FIRM-UP  Present this question:

 Which of the following do you think is an ordinal number?
 Call on a learner to answer and explain.
 Present the definition of ordinal numbers. Have the learners read the
statement aloud.
 Present the table with the ordinal numbers from 1st to 20th. Have
the learners read each ordinal number.
(Day 2)
 Recall the ordinal patterns to the learners. You may say the following:
“The ordinal number for 1 is 1st. We add the suffix -st and spell it out
as f-i-r-s-t, s-e-c-o-n-d and t-h-i-r-d.
 Add the numbers 21 to 30 to the previous table.
 Show two sets of numbers and ask the difference between the two.
Prompt the learners to look at the sequence for both sets.
 Present the set of shapes. Ask the learners to say the ordinal number of
each shape as you point it out.
 Ask the following questions and call on a learner to answer.

 Show the table and color all ordinal numbers that use the suffix -th green.
Then, arrange it in decreasing order.
