Question 1

1.1 A
1.2 C
1.3 C

Question 2

1. Thylakoid membrane: Extensive system of internal membranes that are stacked

together to form grana with large surface contain the green pigment namely
chlorophyll which absorb light energy for the process called photosynthesis.
2. Stroma: Is the fluid within the chloroplast surrounding thylakoid membranes. It
contains enzymes used to synthesise glucose during photosynthesis and also DNA
and ribosome which are used to synthesise proteins required for photosynthesis.
3. Chlorophyll: Green pigment found in thylakoid membranes of chloroplast that
absorbs light energy and transfer it to photosystems where it is used to synthesise
ATP and NADOH.
4. Photosystems: Pigments that allows maximum absorption of light to enter.

Question 3
3.1 Breaks down water molecules using the energy from the sun and takes place in the
grana of the chloroplast.
3.2 The process replaces the electrons that has been lost from photosystem ll (PS ll)
3.3 D- Sunlight, light is absorbed by chlorophyll
H-ATP, is produced from the oxygen released.

Question 4
4.1 D- ADP
E- NADPH

2
4.2 In the stroma of chloroplasts

Question 5
5.1 Anabolic, energy is used as a reactant to convert carbon dioxide and water into glucose
molecules.
Question 6
6.1 When the leaf is exposed to a light source, the process of photosynthesis begins. The
leaf disc uses carbon dioxide from sodium bicarbonate to produce oxygen and increases the
internal pressure of the leaf disc.
6.2 If the leaf disc is submerged in a sodium bicarbonate solution, it will sink due to lack of
oxygen but when exposed to the light source it will re-float because of photosynthesis.
6.3 Because learners are engaging in heuristic learning, they are exploring and discovering
information without being guided by an instructor.
6.4 To archive a common goal, active participation and to share their knowledge and
perspective.
