1 CHAPTER I: INTRODUCTION
1.1 Introduction
In this research work, we will approach the importance of the English in the business world,
in general and in Mozambique in particular. However, one of the main benefits that business
English can bring to your career is the competitive advantage in the market. This is because,
despite the fact that English is the most demanded language today, many people still do not
master this language, which increases the demand of organizations for trained professionals.
In this way, English will help you to speak in the professional world and to get ahead of the
competition in the market to occupy the best job opportunities. As there is a lack of qualified
people in the market, finding a good job is inevitable. By the way, knowing how to speak
English also helps you to be able to compete on an equal footing with offers generally aimed
at a younger audience. It doesn't matter the person's age: mastering the language will take you
to the forefront in the job market. In addition to the competitive advantage in the market,
another benefit of having an advanced knowledge of the English is that the language is widely
used in the technology field. This means that, being fluent in that language, you will be able
to manipulate digital tools more easily. Currently, most of the new technologies are presented
in English, since many of the applications, software and devices available on the market still
do not have a translation into Portuguese. Therefore, English is crucial for the work.

mainly of books and scientific articles.

2 CHAPTER II: THEORETICAL FOUNDATION

2.1 The importance of English language in the world of business in the world in
general and in Mozambique particular
English is now the most widely spoken language in the world, making it the language of
business by default. The spread of the English language over recent centuries has been driven
largely by its use as a lingua franca in international trade and commerce.

Because of its global reach and recognition, English has become increasingly important in
facilitating communication between different cultures, countries, and businesses – becoming
the ideal language for facilitating international workflows.

This makes sense given that English is currently used by many companies as their primary
language for correspondence and negotiations, allowing for easier communication with
partners all around the world. Because of this, English gives businesses an effective way to do
business with partners abroad and speak the same language across markets. The ability to
communicate in English also reflects a company’s commitment to global expansion and
cooperation, making it an even stronger argument for businesses seeking clients overseas.

With its widespread use and continued relevance in today’s international market, English is
truly the language of business.

2.1.1 English is the language of international business and trade

English has become the global gold standard when it comes to doing business and fostering
international trade. It is the language used in official business proceedings, as well as being a
common language among geographically dispersed organizations.

This makes negotiating deals and contracts much easier, because there is no need for costly
translations or other intermediaries. Having one shared language also simplifies
communication between vendors, partners, and customers across different nations.

4
Finally, English is fast becoming the default language of international communication over
digital channels such as email and messaging services. By using a single tongue that all
parties can understand, companies can stay informed with their overseas counterparts in
almost real time.

All these factors have contributed to English becoming the world’s pre-eminent language of
international business and trade.

2.1.2 Many people learn English as a second language

While English may not be the native language of many people across the world, it is
universally accepted as the lingua franca for international commerce.

Businesses must communicate efficiently, and English provides a common platform for
global communication that allows for seamless operations.

As such, many individuals choose to learn English as a second language forgreater

opportunities at home and abroad.

With proper instruction, even non-native speakers have an excellent chance of mastering the
language in their lifetimes, thereby becoming catalysts for progress in their respective
communities.

2.1.3 English is easy to learn compared to other languages

English has many advantages over other languages when it comes to international business.
One of these advantages is that English is easy to learn, compared to other languages.

People from different countries can easily learn English and quickly become proficient, which
makes communication between people from different language backgrounds much smoother.

Furthermore, because of the commonality of English, international businesses are able to use
it as a neutral language, removing any potential language barriers between different cultures.

This facilitates efficient collaboration and easy distribution of information that would
otherwise be difficult if multiple different languages were used in a single business context.

5
2.1.4 English is the official language of many countries
English has played an important role in the international business dialogue for some time. As
the official language of many countries, it has emerged as a lingua franca that helps to bridge
communication gaps and promote understanding between people from different cultures.

2.2 Simple Future Tense—Difference Between “Will” and “Going To”

2.2.1 “Will” vs “Going To”
In English, there are several forms that can be used to refer to the future. The two most
common are will or going to. Often, especially in casual speech, these two words are used
interchangeably with no issues. However, in formal writing, they have slight distinctions. If
you want to be as accurate as possible, you should know that will is more commonly used
with recent decisions, certain futures, and predictions. Going to tends to be used about events
that were previously decided on.
If you’re still not sure about when to use will or going to, don’t worry. We promise
we will elaborate on our explanations, and that you’re going to understand them as soon as
you’re done reading this blog.
2.2.1.1 Simple Future Tense With “Will”
Simple future tense helps indicate that something will happen in the future. A future tense
with will is used to state something with absolute certainty.
The structure for a future tense with will is: subject + will + base of a verb.
I will eat at Fuddruckers.

The structure of a negative future tense is: subject + will + not + base of a verb.
I will not join you for lunch today.

Remember, that won’t is a contraction of will not.

I won’t be going to tomorrow’s office party.

Will is often used while making a rapid decision.

Sure, I’ll (I will) get you a slice of pizza.

2.2.1.2 Simple Future Tense With “Going To”

When using a future tense, going to is used to reference an event that has already been
planned.
Last week, they decided they are going to get married in December.

6
Going to is also used when there is evidence in the present that emphasizes something will
happen.
You’re going to fall if you don’t tie your shoelaces.

The structure of using going to in future tense is: subject + form of “to be” (am/is/are) + going
to + base of a verb.
I am going to travel to Ireland for vacation next month.

He is going to feel sad if you don’t invite him to the party.

They are going to go to his parents’ house.

Please remember that in casual speech and writing, will and going to can be interchanged
without changing the meaning of the sentence or causing any confusion. However, in formal
writing it’s best to know the distinctions.

Correct

This year, I will finish writing my book.

Avoid

This year, I am going to finish writing my book.

Correct

I think the Los Angeles Lakers will not win the NBA championship this season.

Avoid

I think the Los Angeles Lakers are not going to win the NBA championship this season.

2.3 The Difference Between “Will” and “Going To”

Imagine if one of Queen’s hit songs, “We will rock you,” disregarded the difference between
“will” and “going to.” We are going to, we are going to rock you” just wouldn’t have sounded
as catchy, and the song probably wouldn’t have been quite as popular. Keep this in mind
when you’re writing something formal, and deciding on whether to use “will” or “going
to.”popular. Keep this in mind when you’re writing something formal, and deciding on
whether to use “will” or “going to.”

7
contexto apropriado.

fazemos isso, devemos utilizar o verbo will. Por exemplo:

Do you want to travel in July?

(Você quer viajar em julho?)

Why not? I’ll go with you to London.

Vejamos alguns exemplos:

1. I think that the oil price will decrease very soon.

2. Perhaps they’ll be here for dinner.

(Talvez eles estarão aqui para o jantar.)

3. She probably won’t win the game.

seguinte exemplo:

1. She will study for the next exam.

8

No

It’s going to rain. Look at the sky!

planejamos, devemos usar going to. Vejamos alguns exemplos:

1. My daughter is going to become a doctor. She has already decided.

(Minha filha vai se tornar uma médica. Ela já se decidiu.)
2. We’re not going to work at the museum.

3 CHAPTER III: CONCLUSION

3.1 Conclusion
With this research work, it is concluded that In an increasingly globalized world, the
importance of English for executives and leaders is unquestionable. English is the
international language of business, and it has become an essential requirement for any
company looking to expand its operations to other countries. It is the official language in
many countries such as the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom
and other countries in Europe. Communicating in English is fundamental for people and
consequently for many companies, from negotiating contracts to communicating with
suppliers and customers around the world.

Therefore, having employees in various positions who are fluent in the language is also
important, as this allows the company to communicate effectively with international
customers and business partners, which can even help to improve the company's reputation in
the global market. This way, you don't run the risk of losing some millionaire business
because you can't express yourself in the language.
