Analysis of Existing Model 5

I apologize for the inconvenience where the same photo was used multiple times here since there were only two
pictures which were being provided. However, the emphasis on the topic will remain unchanged.

General Description of Existing model

• Material: Handcrafted with Mahogany wood and durable leather upholstery- for a
good hold and seal
• Length of strap/handle: 250 mm
• Thickness of handle: 50 mm
• Dimension : 600 mm x 500 mm x 75 mm
• Cost: Rs 1500 – quite costly (shipping freight: Rs 200)
• Mass: 1.450 kg
• Visual impact rating: Exceptional

Primary Function: Used to carry Art & Design set such as paint brushes, Sketch book, personal belongings and some pens.
& can use the surface of the wood as a writing board

Multifunction: Not only is it a functional storage and keepsake box, but it can be used to carry tools, accessories and much more.

Product interaction: Intended Use

How are the equipment being stored inside?

• The equipment can be inserted inside with little to no effort. There is some space to
accommodate for extra equipment.
• The problem here is that the tablet and the pages are stacked one on top of the
other meaning that the pages are susceptible to moving and there is a chance that
the pages may get crushed.
• It has a protective layer that can protect the equipment by preventing water from
entering inside.
• The issue is that if inclined at a certain angle, the equipment will be separated from
their pockets and will end up mixing up with other equipment.

The bag is a bit flashy but not to that extent that both genders will not be able to use it. Other items such as coloring
pencils, templates, mathematical equipment can be put inside and are being easily retrieved since it is within reach. The
issue is that the storage of the equipment is not made secure and may prove to be annoying at times when they fall off.

Aesthetics of the model Personal Opinion

There is a strong visual impact regarding the bag itself. I am a fan of this

How is it respecting the Ergonomic Principle?

Principle 5. Reduce Excessive Motions: Here the handle will prevent the bag from swinging by the wind. The handle
provides enough tension together with its weight to keep hold of the bag.
User Interaction (Intended User)
Here are the positive and negative aspects that I have encountered when using the model.

Positive Aspects Negative Aspects I have asked the user about his overall opinion

• It is very light • It does not protect the equipment This will enable me to know further about the

product and to work on these issues.
• Fair storage capacity • No compartments in it, so
equipment may get muddled up But first of all, I want to voice out my opinion
• Easy to maintain/clean • No room for T-Square regarding this model so as not to be biased by
the opinion of others.
Personal Appraisal regarding the product

So far, the design is almost just right but through observation, I can see that the user does struggle a little especially with the
shoulder strap. We can deduce that the shoulder strap length is not proportionate to the size of the wooden bag. Perhaps the
length of the shoulder strap should be reduced to a level where it will not disturb the user when walking.

Expert Opinion: “The wooden bag is a unique and eco-friendly accessory that can be a statement piece. However, its
durability and functionality depend on the quality of its materials and design. Customers should carefully consider the
bag's price and whether it is worth the investment.”

User Opinion: “As someone who uses the wooden bag on a daily basis, I think it's a really unique and environmentally-
friendly accessory that stands out from traditional bags. However, its durability and functionality depend on the quality of
its construction and design. It's important to carefully consider the bag's price and whether it's a good investment in the
long-run”

From the above model, we can conclude that we should work with a material that is not too heavy, that doesn’t get dirty
quickly. From the model, we can extract important factors such as the material having a smooth wooden oak texture and that
the material chosen conforms with both genders, of all ages ranging from 16 and above.

Now reverting back to my product, we must consider following the Ergonomic Principles in order to create a viable product
that will provide the student maximum comfort, which is something we are trying to attain. Ergonomics is crucial since
normally students work for roughly 3-4 hours and if the positioning is wrong, then the student will suffer in the future.

Mathematical Implications to be considered(Part 1)

I feel I had to emphasize more on the mathematical implications here since it is simply just nor fair to just gaze at the product
without knowing the mathematics and physics behind the design of the bag. Perhaps the designer shows a sign of maturity in
the field of research as well as the appropriate expertise in making the product in real-life and able to be mass-produced.

After this, we have gained an additional knowledge on other indirect factors which are to be considered to make the bag.
Through this we have shown a maturity in analyzing products in a very different but exclusive way. These factors can be helpful
when designing and realizing our bag.
Constructional Methods
Here I have gone further to analyze any possible constructional methods being implemented in the designing of the model.

Here I am focusing on the joint that were used Also, it is important to consider the constructional techniques of the

Finishes

Here is a rapid visualization of the finish being applied on the Here is the second stage of the finish being

the finish and the product after the finish. This helps to show the
importance of the finish. Here we might consider using this
finishing technique when doing our final design.

Mathematical Calculations

(include scenarios where the person encounters a difficulty when their hands are wet, large, small, etc.)

The point to be retained here is:

Here, I will be analyzing further into detail more mathematical implications

that could affect the behavior of the design. Here, the catch-point is to look for
the possible factors that can be implemented in our design. That way, it shows
a sense of maturity in the designing of the bag.
Environment (Think in terms of the 3Rs6Rs)

• What effect does it have on environment? – The product itself is eco-friendly and does not pollute when
• How long will it last? – The life-time of this product ranges from 2-3 years
• Is it recyclable? – Yes, the material with which it is made can be recycled, hence it will benefit the environment.
• How much carbon footprint is released in the atmosphere? – it is the amount of greenhouse gases released by our
actions. Here the product when manufactured did not release a large amount of carbon footprint during production.
