Volunteer Opportunities
OCT. 26th GREENHOUSE - VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: October is the time where our
greenhouse and outdoor garden needs some extra TLC. The cool weather weeds have
sprouted, the beds need to be prepped for the winter, and the greenhouse beds need to
be maintained for the students.
Email our Hospitality Director Reva Busby with any questions at reva.busby@gmail.com.
This month, the PTO provided gifts to celebrate the school maintenance staff, our 8
Indian trail bus drivers, Sydnee McDermott (Vice Principal), and Tony Candela (Principal)
as part of the annual district-wide recognition days.
We also celebrated Tony’s newest addition to his family with an Indian trail mini tiger
onesie and baby books.
Calling all volunteers for Pancake Day 2024! Although the event isn't until February
(final date TBD), we need to start planning and will be holding our first "kick-off" meeting
on Wednesday, October 25th at noon at Central Cafe in Highland Park.
Please consider joining the committee for our annual fundraiser filled with games, prizes
and of course pancakes! Express specific interest or find what speaks to you as we plan.
In the winter of 2013, our Highland Park chapter of Blessings in a Backpack began
providing hunger-free weekends to 50 children in Highland Park and Highwood. Due to
the dedication of volunteers and the generosity of community members, the program has
expanded to feed over 175 children every week, including several at Indian Trail!
As a PTO, we try to raise funds to cover the costs for providing the bags for the children
at our school. Many of you donated at the beginning of the year - thank you! If you
haven't had a chance to donate yet there is still time.
DONATE HERE to help Indian Trail reach its $5,700 annual goal to assist students in
need.
If you would like more information on the program, or other ways to get involved, please
reach out to Emily Ferriman.
Find parent guidance and coaching, on-demand courses and you can even ask a
therapist for help. This is a professional service paid for by NSSD112 and is available in
both English and Spanish.
Families can receive help from licensed clinical therapists, psychologists, and
psychiatrists with all personal information held in confidence in accordance with HIPAA
protections.
Only D112 know how frequently this resource is used, and no personal information will
be attached. They will use this data to decide whether to invest again or embed this
service into future budgets. Recordings of workshops shared through Parent Square will
stay up all year.
