and water
pollution

Water pollution
Our first topic is water
pollution. 2.4 billion
people live without any
form of sanitation1.
Lack of sanitation is one
of the most significant
forms of water
sadwasssssssssssssssssssssssss
pollution. 90% of
sssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
sewage in developing
s
countries is discharged
untreated directly into
water bodies. Every
day 2 million tonnes of
sewage and other
effluents drain into the
world's water3
According to the
report, the poor
condition of Polish
waters concerns
91.5% of river
resources, about
sadwasssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
88% of lakes and
ssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
nearly 100% of
transitional and
coastal surface
waters
In the
Podkarpackie
voivodeship there
are several large
industrial plants in
sadwasssssssssssssssssssssssss
which the
sssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
techonology s that
is used there
contributes to the
formation of
pollution, mainly,
surface waters
The effects of water pollution
can be illnesses or poisoning of
the organism. Bacteria and
parasites in poorly treated
sadwasssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
wastewater can ssssssenter drinking
water supplies and cause
digestive problems such as
cholera.
Condition of water in Europe
sadwasssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
In almost half of EU
countries, freshwater
resources are
worryingly low (less
than 3 000 m3 per
capita), including
Poland, Malta, Cyprus
sadwassssssssssssssssssssss
and the Czech
ssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
Republic below the
sssssss level
water security
(according to the UN,
the limit below which
a country is
considered at risk of
such a water
shortage is 1 700 m3
per person).
What can we do about water pollution
sadwasssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
in Poland and around the world?
Water pollution can be reduced by:
-building new wastewater treatment plants and
upgrading old ones,
-using watertight or closed-loop technologies,
sadwasssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
-reducing the amount of pollutants entering these
waters,
-rational water management.
Pollution of green areas
in Poland and around
sadwasssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss

the world
What are 7 human activities that affect the environment?
Various Human Activities That Affect an Ecosystem:
-Agriculture,
-Deforestation,
-Overpopulation & overconsumption,
sadwasssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
-Plastic production,
-Emission of carbon doxide and other greenhouse gases,
-Destruction of the Reefs,
-Production of Black Carbon.
Pollution of green areas,
including forests, is mainly
caused by air emissions,
climate and also by
human activities. Air
emissions cause acid rain,
which affects the health of
forests. Acid rain damages
the foliage and needles of
trees, leading to a
sadwasssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
weakened condition and
ssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
increased susceptibility to
diseases and pests. In
addition, excessive air
pollutant emissions lead to
an increase in ozone
concentrations, which also
has a negative impact on
vegetation.
Climate also affects the
pollution of green
spaces, including forests.
Rising temperatures and
climate variability affect
sadwasssssssssssssssssssssssss
changes in biological
sssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
processes s such as
flowering, fruit and leaf
development, which can
affect the growth of
pests and diseases.
Deforestation is one of
the most serious
threats to the world's
green spaces.
Hundreds of hectares
sadwassssssssssssssssssssssss
of forest are lost
sssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
worldwide every day,
ss
leading to the loss of
valuable ecosystems
and increased
greenhouse gas
emissions.
Ways to reduce
sadwassssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss

deforestation
s
In order to counter pollution of green areas,
including forests, it is necessary to implement
sustainable forest management practices,
reduce air pollutant emissions and promote
sadwasssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
green technologies such as renewable energy.
In addition, it is necessary to promote
environmental awareness in society and take
action to protect the environment.
Many people in our
country don’t even
realise what they’re
doing, for example
mass cutting of trees
reduces the production
of oxygen what causes
sadwassssssssssssssssssssssss
many people to suffer
ssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
from various sssilnesses like
asthma. Another
example is throwing
rubbish into forests or
rivers what causes the
water and green areas
pollution.
Thank you for your
sadwasssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
attention!
