Senior Beta Club Application Information

The National Beta Club is a national honor society dedicated to promoting leadership and
achievement in the areas of scholarship and service. Our motto is “Let us lead by serving
others.”

As such, Central Magnet’s Beta Club chapter demands that its members live up to high
standards of academics, character, service, and leadership, and focuses on community service at
the school, local, and international levels.

Application Process

Students must have and maintain a cumulative high school GPA of 3.50 or better.

To be considered for membership, new applicants must submit the following documents in a
sealed envelope to Dr. Roland (room 120) by 9/15/23:

● Essay
○ Provide a 200–300-word essay answering the following questions:
■ Why do you want to be a part of a club with the difficult creed “Let us
lead by serving others?”
■ Why is living up to this statement important to you?
● Application
○ Print off and complete the application and submit by Friday, September 15,
2023. No late applications will be accepted!

● Teacher Recommendation Forms

○ Provide two positive reports from teachers regarding character, leadership,
service, and academic achievement.
o These recommendations may be emailed to Dr. Roland rolandl@rcschools.net

Additional Details Concerning the Application Process:

● High school BETA members transferring their membership from another high should see
Dr. Roland.

● If accepted, new members must:

○ Attend Beta Club induction at the next club meeting.

○ Commit to the following requirements:
 Complete three service activities each semester (on top of your Central
hours).
 Pay one-time $55 dues. This covers both Central Magnet School and
National Beta Club dues, as well as the Beta stole worn at graduation.
Dues must be paid before induction. If paying by check, please write the
name of the student in the memo section of the check.
 Maintain exemplary character, leadership, service, and academic
achievement
