2. Determine the applied forces.
3. Determine the applied forces due to the controlling load combinations.
4. Determine axial and flexural strength of chosen design section.

6. Check design section for major and minor axis shear.
7. Check design section for concentrated loads.
8. If applicable, design welds between W-shape and reinforcing, or between plates of a
