PARTS OF SPEECH
PARTS OF SPEECH
When we talk about parts of speech, we talk about the functions words have in a
sentence.
Knowing these functions can help us understand or translate a word.

NOUN It is used to to people, things, ideas, etc.

ADJECTIVE It nouns (or pronouns).
VERB It .

ADVERB It adjectives, verbs, or other adverbs.

Anna’s roommate, Lynn, decided to drive to work, , Anna rode into the city
with her. They needed to turn left on 140th Street, that street was under
construction. Anna could say anything, , Lynn had already
found an alternate route.
Anna arrived at work, her boss told her she would be working with her
coworker Ian on her next project. Anna was really impressed by Ian’s
professional accomplishments, she was anxious about working with him.
Anna thought Ian was annoying, unpredictable, reckless.
INTERJECTION It an emotion.
