ACTIVITY: Write Your Local History

As a citizen of this country, you must be a member of your local community, and
your community is part of the larger Philippine society. Your local community (barangay,
town, city, province) must have its own history, but which history you do not normally
find in history books or written anywhere else because previous historians must have
thought it was not significant, or that simply, there was never somebody in your place to
tell or write about it. Now, assuming the role of local historian, try to reconstruct or
narrate your local history with evidence (like photos, videos, etc.).

Introduction

Tagum is the capital city of the province of Davao del Norte it has several
nicknames, including the Palm City of the Philippines, due to the towering Royal Red
palm trees commonly seen on Maharlika Highway and parks. They also have a
Musuem were it known as Tagum City Historical and Cultural Center it has different
and unique galleries that exhibit the rich biological and geological diversity of the Tagum
City Place. It includes creatively curated displays of ancient things that are related to the
place that represent our unique natural history although they have successfully gained
this goal, the pressing issue has remained in its capacity of educating visitors about
natural heritage, history and culture.

It educated here the life of the tagumeños and show the capabilities of the
individuals through having an event called Araw ng Tagum considering that Tagum City
is also called a City of Festivals because it holds 15 festivals throughout the year.
Other nicknames of Tagum are the City of Parks, the Music Capital of the South, the
Marching Show Band of the Philippines, and the City of Golden Opportunities that
proudly connects all the unique talents from there equipment they utilized and the
talents that possess a great role in preserving the cultural heritage of various ethnicity.
In this way Tagumeños will facilely comprehend the history about the occurrence will
happen.

I was fortunate enough to have a chance to visit Tagum Historical and Cultural
Center and all I can state is that individuals will surely enjoy the ambience of the place
aside from that we will learn something about our place we lived. A visit a museum
imparts us knowledge about the civilization of the past.
