1.0 APPLICATION PROCEDURE – ADJUSTABLE (GROUND


LEVEL) VARI-GRIP (VGxxA)
1.01 Pretension guy strands with hoist attached
high enough to permit installation of
retaining rods.

only. Ensure that there is a Minimum gap of 2mm
between wedges. Check that wedge fits snugly on
Guy strand. When the two wedges are joined, an
additional 2 wedge notches are formed on the
parting line into which a rod can be placed.
Dependant on the Vari-grip
Vari size and configuration,
there may be up to 2 rods less than there are wedge
notches.

1.06 Attach BOTH wedges on Guy strand with a single


wrap of tape near the mark and AT LEAST 50mm
from the end of the strand. The larger end of the
wedge should be closest to the Anchor or fitting.

1.07 Install retaining rods as follows: Place the straight


end of rods (colour coded, non-gritted
gritted end) in the
notches of the wedges so that AT LEAST 3mm
EXTENDS BEYOND THE WEDGE.. Wrap the rod
subset on strand completely and repeat procedure
for subsequent subsets.ts. All rods should be placed
into the notches on the wedges.. A screw driver
drive can
be used to equalize the wedge halves. Take care not
to damage the protective Zinc coating on rods
(Figure 9). Rods can be removed and reapplied once

1.11 Onto each leg apply a SHORT anti tamper cup and
LONG Anti-Tamper in this order as shown in figure
15.

1.12 Finally apply a Hex lock nut onto each leg and
